Cumberland - Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures due to Highway Works
What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (A596 SIDDICK, A594 MARYPORT TO PAPCASTLE AND A596 LEEGATE HOUSE TO WAVERTON) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable highway works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:
A596 Siddick from its junction with St Helen’s Lane, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 1.7 km.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the A596, A66 Ramsay Brow, A66, A595 Papcastle and A594 Dovenby, Dearham and Maryport.
Duration: From 6 July 2025 for approx. 6 days between 1900 and 0600 hours

A594 Maryport to Papcastle from its junction with the A596, to its junction with the A595 Belle Vue Roundabout.
Alternative Route: via the A596 Maryport to Workington, A66 Ramsay Brow, A66 and A595 Papcastle.
Duration: From 13 July 2025 for approx. 7 days between 1900 and 0600 hours

A596 Leegate House to Waverton, from its junction with the C2006, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 3.3 km.
Alternative Route: via the A596, Aspatria, Maryport, A594 Maryport to Papcastle, A595 Cockermouth to Thursby Roundabout and A596 Thursby Roundabout, Wigton and Waverton.
Duration: From 27 July 2025 for approx. 21 days between 1900 and 0600 hours

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 6 July 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months.
However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
