What is happening?
THE CITY OF SUNDERLAND (CLOSURE OF ROADS IN GRASSWELL AND PHILADELPHIA AREA HOUGHTON-LE-SPRING) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025
Sunderland City Council gives notice that on 20th June 2025 it intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit vehicles along the roads in the Schedule. The Order is required to facilitate water main installation works in or near the road. The Order will come into operation on 30th June 2025. The maximum duration of the closure under the Order will be 18 months, however it is estimated the closure will only be for approximately 8 weeks from commencement of the works. All vehicles will be prohibited from the roads in the Schedule (except vehicles involved in the works) until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. Alternative routes will be provided via the adjacent highway network. SCHEDULE Cellar Hill Terrace West Back its entire extent. Cellar Hill Terrace North from its junction with Grasswell Terrace to its junction with Gertrude Street. Grasswell Terrace South Back its entire extent. Chester Street South Back its entire extent. Lumley Street South Back its entire extent. Ruby Street South Back its entire extent. Maidstone Terrace East Rear its entire extent. Electric Cresent from its junction with Voltage Terrace to its north-western extent.
