POPLAR STREET, MYRTLE STREET, HOLLY STREET
AND SYCAMORE STREET ASHINGTON
(TEMPORARY FOOTWAY CLOSURE) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Northumberland County Council intends to make an Order to prohibit the use by pedestrian traffic on the following sections in the County of Northumberland.
The Order is to be effective from the 7th July 2025 until the 17th September 2025.
Footway Closures
U6528 Myrtle Street, Ashington from its junction with First Avenue heading northwards for a distance of 165 metres.
An alternative route will be available for use whilst the TTRO is in force being via First Avenue, Poplar Street Myrtle Street Back Lane, Woodhorn Road and vice-versa. Should the need arise changes may be made to the alternative routes, where possible these changes will be signposted accordingly.
U6527 Poplar Street, Ashington from its junction with First Avenue heading southwards for a distance of 155 metres.
An alternative route will be available for use whilst the TTRO is in force being via First Avenue, U6527 U6528 Poplar Steet Sycamore Street Back Lane, Second Avenue and vice-versa.
U6528 Poplar Street, Ashington from its junction with First Avenue heading northwards for a distance of 165 metres.
An alternative route will be available for use whilst the TTRO is in force being via First Avenue, U6527 U6528 Poplar Steet Sycamore Street Back Lane, Woodhorn Road and vice-versa.
It is expected that the footways will only be closed from the 17th July 2025 until the 28th July 2025, the footways will be closed at all times during this period; however, the order will remain in place until 17th September 2025.
U6526 Holly Street, Ashington for its entire length of 29 metres.
There will be no alternative route available for the duration of the TTRO.
It is expected that the footway will only be closed from the 14th July 2025 until the 24th July 2025, the footways will be closed at all times during this period; however, the order will remain in place until 17th September 2025.
U6528 Sycamore Street, Ashington from its junction with First Avenue heading northwards for a distance of 138 metres.
An alternative route will be available for use whilst the TTRO is in force being via First Avenue, U6527 U6528 Poplar Steet Sycamore Street Back Lane, Poplar Street, Sycamore Street Past Gable End Of 1 And 2, and vice-versa.
U6527 Sycamore Street, Ashington from its junction with First Avenue heading southwards for a distance of 155 metres.
An alternative route will be available for use whilst the TTRO is in force being via First Avenue, Maple Street Sycamore Street Back Lane, Second Avenue and vice-versa.
U6526 Sycamore Street, Ashington from its junction with Third Avenue heading northwards for a distance of 120 metres.
An alternative route will be available for use whilst the TTRO is in force being via Third Avenue, Maple Street Back Lane 109-147, Sycamore Street Back Lane 100-134, Second Avenue Back Lane and vice-versa.
U6525 Sycamore Street, Ashington from its junction with Third Avenue heading southwards for a distance of 151 metres.
An alternative route will be available for use whilst the TTRO is in force being via Third Avenue, Sycamore Street Back Lane 140-184, Maple Street Back Lane 153-197, Fourth Avenue and vice-versa.
It is expected that the footways will only be closed from the 7th July 2025 until the 23rd July 2025, the footways will be closed at all times during this period; however, the order will remain in place until 17th September 2025.

The closure has been requested by Advanced Utility Solutions to install ducts for fibre broadband.
In order to minimise future disruption, other contractors may be undertaking works throughout the duration of this Order.
