What is happening?

WEST NORTHAMPTONSHIRE COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14

(PUBLIC FOOTPATH AW4 (PART) – NEWBOTTLE)

(TEMPORARY CLOSURE) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that West Northamptonshire Council have made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along that length of Public Footpath AW4 (Part) in Newbottle as specified below. Private access to land or premises adjacent to the said length of footpath are unaffected.

RIGHT OF WAY TO WHICH RESTRICTION APPLIES: That length of Public Footpath AW4 to be closed commences at Point A on the map at National Grid Reference (‘NGR’) SP5257 3576. The route then proceeds generally east for 11 metres, crossing the stream to terminate at point B on the map at NGR SP5258 3577. The route to be closed is shown on the map by a solid black line between points A-B.

REASONS FOR RESTRICTION: The restriction is required in the interest of health and safety during works to replace timber structures on the footbridge across the stream.

PERIOD OF CLOSURE: The Order will come into effect on 23rd June 2025 and will continue in force for a period of six months. An application may be made for the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport for this Order to be extended if this proves necessary. However, the restriction specified will have effect only at such times and to such extent as is indicated by the display of notices.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: The alternative route commences at Point C on the map at NGR SP5249 3575, the route then proceeds south-east along public footpath AW3 and then footpath AW2 for a total of 182 metres to point D at NGR SP5263 3565. The route then proceeds north-east along footpath AW12 for 186 metres to meet Main Street at point E at NGR SP5276 3578. The route then proceeds generally north along the footway of Main Street for 24 metres to terminate at the junction with footpath AW4 at point F at NGR SP5276 3581.

The alternative route is shown on the map by a broken black line between points C-D-E-F.
