Norfolk, Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures due to Maintenance and Resurfacing works

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS 2025 (NORWICH)

Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984

Norfolk County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, hereby give notice that:

i) THEY PROPOSE TO MAKE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

BETHEL STREET

    1. Bethel Street (northside of the carriageway) from 1m west of the entrance with the Forum Car Park to 25m east of its junction with Little Bethel Street and

  1. Bethel Street (southside of the carriageway) from 3m west of its junction with Little Bethel Street to 5m east of its junction with Rigsby Court to facilitate manhole cover repair works, traffic over the Roads shall be temporarily prohibited to park, stop, load, and/or unload between 19:00 on 25th June and 07:00 on 26th June 2025 (may continue until 7th August 2025).

    Alternative route is via: N/A.

    The works promoter is: Anglian Water.

DEREHAM ROAD

From its junction with Sweet Briar Road roundabout to its junction with Waterworks Road to facilitate reclimate treatment works between 07:00 and 16:00 on 22nd June 2025 (may continue until 3rd August 2025).

Alternative route is via: Dereham Road, Guardian Road, Farrow Road, Earlham Road, Colman Road, Mile End Road, Newmarket Road, St Stephens Road, St Stephens Roundabout, Chapel Field Road, Grapes Hill.

The works promoter is: Norfolk County Council.

KETTS HILL

From 30m east of its junction with Gurney Road to 40m west of its junction with Belsize Road to facilitate carriageway surface dressing works. The Road will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) and traffic (constituting any class of vehicle) over the Road shall be temporarily prohibited to park, stop, load, and/or unload between 08:00 and 23:59 on 22nd June 2025 (may continue until 3rd August 2025).

Alternative route is via:

    • Westbound: Plumstead Road, Heartsease Lane, Harvey Lane, Thorpe Road, Carrow Road, Canary Way, Koblenz Avenue, Riverside, Riverside Road and Bishop Bridge Road;

  • Eastbound: Bishop Bridge Road, Riverside Road, Koblenz Avenue, Canary Way, Carrow Road, Clarence Road, Thorpe Road, Harvey Lane, Heartsease Lane, Plumstead Road (Norwich, Thorpe St Andrew).

    The works promoter is: Norfolk County Council.

    MAGDALEN STREET

      1. Magdalen Street from its junction with Colegate to its junction with St Saviours Lane and

      1. Magdalen Street from its junction with Edward Street to its junction with Colegate and

    1. Edward Street at its junction with Magdalen Street to facilitate manhole cover and frame repair works.

      • Road 1) will be temporarily closed/restricted (except for pedestrian access) and temporarily subject to the suspension of the cycle lane.

      • Road 2) will be temporarily subject to the suspension of the bus lane and

    • Road 3) shall be temporarily subject to the suspension of a no right turn restriction allowing traffic (constituting any class of vehicle) to turn right onto Magdalen Street between 19:00 on 25th June and 06:00 on 26th June 2025 (may continue until 7th August 2025).

    Alternative route is via: Fye Bridge Street, Wensum Street, Palace Street, Whitefriars, A147 Barrack Street (roundabout only), A1151 Charlton Road, A1151 Bull Close Road, Magpie Road, A1067 Edward Street, U41814 Edward Street, Magdalen Street.

    The works promoter is: Anglian Water.

    NB: Magdalen Street will be closed to all vehicles, including cycles, between Colegate and St. Saviours Lane.

    To allow access to properties and businesses, the busway will be suspended between Edward Street and Colegate while the road closure is in place. As the bus lane will be suspended, the No Right Turn restriction from Edward Street on to Magdalen Street will be suspended to allow access to properties and businesses.

    ST CRISPINS ROAD

    From its junction with St Crispins Road/Pitt Street Roundabout to its junction with St Crispins Road/Barrack Street Roundabout to facilitate surface dressing works from 26th June to 5th July 2025 (may continue until 16th August 2025).

    Alternative route is via: A147 Barrack Street/Bishop Bridge Road/Riverside Road/Riverside/Koblenz Avenue/Carrow Road/King Street/Bracondale/Queens Road/Chapel Field Road/Grapes Hill/Barn Road/St Crispins Road and vice versa.

    The works promoter is: Norfolk County Council.

    NB: These works are to be carried out in phases.

      • Phase 1: 19:00 on 26th June to 05:00 on 29th June.

      • Phase 2: 19:00 on 1st July to 05:00 on 4th July.

    • Phase 3: 19:00 on 2nd July to 05:00 on 5th July.

    ST STEPHENS ROAD

    From its junction with A147 St Stephen’s Roundabout to its junction with Ipswich Road to facilitate Reclaim treatment works to carriageway between 19:00 and 23:59 on 22nd June 2025 (may continue until 3rd August 2025).

    Alternative route is via: St Stephen’s Roundabout, Queen’s Road, Bracondale, Martineau Lane, Loddon Road, Barrett Road, Hall Road, Lakenham Road, Ipswich Road and vice versa.

    The works promoter is: Norfolk County Council.

    ii) THEY HAVE MADE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

    PECKOVER ROAD

    From its junction with Pettus Road for 40m eastwards to facilitate works for water apparatus from 17th to 20th June 2025 (may continue until 1st August 2025).

    Alternative route is via: Peckover Road, Pettus Road, South Park Avenue, Bluebell Road, Osborne Road, Unthank Road and vice versa.

    The works promoter is: Anglian Water.

    SWEET BRIAR ROAD AND DEREHAM ROAD

      1. A140 Sweet Briar Road from its junction with Drayton Road to its junction with Hellesdon Hall Road and

    1. A1074 Dereham Road from its junction with Sweet Briar Road Roundabout to its junction with Old Palace Road to facilitate Reclaim treatment to carriageway works.

      • The road 1) will be temporarily closed/restricted (except for pedestrian access) and

    • road 2) shall be temporarily subject to the suspension of the 7.5 tonne weight restriction between 19:00 and 23:59 on 15th June 2025 (may continue until 27th July 2025).

    Alternative route is via: A1067 Drayton Road, A1024 Mile Cross Road/Heigham Street/Old Palace Road, A1074 Dereham Road, A140 Sweet Briar Road and vice versa.

    The works promoter is: Norfolk County Council.

    TOMBLAND (cycle lane)

    From 4m north of its junction with Princes Street for 30m northwards to facilitate new gas connection works from 16th to 20th June 2025 (may continue until 1st August 2025).

    Alternative route is via: Cyclists asked to join carriageway.

    The works promoter is: Cadent.

    Unless otherwise stated, the effect of these Orders will be to prohibit the use by vehicles of the named road(s)/footpath(s). In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance. Where an Order is for a reason other than works it is because of the likelihood of danger to the public or of serious damage to the road/footpath.

    Anticipated dates are stated but the Orders may continue until the end date where necessary or required. The Orders are revoked on the end date or on the actual date of removal of the prohibition/restriction where earlier without further notice. If necessary, the restrictions can have a maximum duration of 18 months or 6 months in respect of footpaths, cycle paths, bridleways, restricted byways, and byways open to all traffic (BOAT).

    Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
