What is happening?

West Sussex County Council

(North Mundham: B2166 & Church Road)

(Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order 2025

NOTICE is hereby given that WSCC made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to:

(i)    prohibit vehicles from travelling along Church Road at the junction with the B2166; and

(ii)   prohibit any vehicles from driving at a speed existing 30MPH on the section of the B2166 between Pagham Road roundabout junction and School Lane.

The Order is necessary to protect public safety whilst electrical connection works are undertaken.

The Order came into effect on 24 June 2025 and will last for 18 months or until the proposed works are completed, whichever is earlier. It is anticipated works will commence on 24 June 2025 and will take 5 weeks to complete.

(Southbourne: Public Footpath No. 202)

(Temporary Closure No. 2) Order 2024

NOTICE is hereby given that the Order made by WSCC under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 which came into force on 24 December 2024, with the consent of the Secretary of State for Transport will now continue in force until 24 June 2026 or until the works are completed.

The Order is necessary to protect public safety due to a damaged sluice gate.

The effect of the Order remains unchanged and is to prohibit any person from proceeding along the length of Public Footpath No. 202 from its northern end at its junction with Public Footpath No. 3000 (grid reference 476546.370, 104154.837), southwards to the southern side of the sluice gate (grid reference 476695.790, 1037.415), a distance of approximately 470M. Unfortunately there is no alternative route available using the Public Rights of Way network.

(Midhurst & West Lavington: Chichester Road, South Street & Various Roads)

(20mph & 30mph Speed Limit) Order 2025

NOTICE is hereby given that WSCC made a permanent Order under the provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to introduce a 20mph speed limit on lengths of Chichester Road, Church Hill, Duck Lane, Edinburgh Square, Grange Road, Knockhundred Row, Market Square, Red Lion Street, St Annes Hill, Selham Road, Sheep Lane, South Street, West Street, The Wharf and Wool Lane.

The Order will come into operation on 23 June 2025.

Paper copies of documents will not be available to view in council offices or libraries. People without access to a computer who wish to have a copy of the Order should telephone the WSCC Contact Centre on 01243 642105 to receive a copy by post.

Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Order, or of any provision contained therein, on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Act, or on the grounds that any requirements of the act, or of any instrument made under it, has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may within 6 weeks from 19 June 2025, apply to the High Court for this purpose.

(West Dean & Lavant: A286 & B2141)

(40mph & 50mph Speed Limit) Order 2025

NOTICE is hereby given that WSCC made a permanent Order under the provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to reduce the speed limit on the section of the A286 between the villages of Mid Lavant and West Dean. There will be a 40MPH speed limit centred on the junction with Binderton Lane and 50mph buffers to the north and south.

The Order will come into operation on 23 June 2025.

Paper copies of documents will not be available to view in council offices or libraries. People without access to a computer who wish to have a copy of the Order should telephone the WSCC Contact Centre on 01243 642105 to receive a copy by post.
