Barrow-in-Furness, Temporary Road Closures Due To Highway Improvement Works
What is happening?
WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL
(RAWLINSON STREET AND HOLKER STREET, BARROW-IN-FURNESS) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable highway improvement works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that section of:
(i) Rawlinson Street, Barrow-In-Furness, from its junction with Abbey Road, extending
in a south easterly direction to its junction with High Street.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of Rawlinson Street, Greengate Street, Park Avenue and Abbey Road.
Alternative Route for HGV’s: via Rawlinson Street, Greengate Street, Church Street, Dalton Road, Duke Street, Strand, Hindpool Road (A5087) and Abbey Road.
Duration: From 2nd July 2025 for approx. 7 weeks (Ref: TTROW1/4802)
(ii) Holker Street, Barrow-In-Furness, from its junction with Abbey Road, extending in a
north westerly direction to its junction with Dryden Street.
Alternative Route for South East Vehicles: via the unrestricted section of Holker Street, Wilkie Road, Walney Road, Duke Street and Abbey Road.
Alternative Route for North West Bound Vehicles: via Abbey Road, Ainslie Road, Devonshire Road and the unrestricted section of Holker Street
Duration: From 19th August 2025 for approx. 6 weeks (Ref: TTROW1/4804)

The Order will come into operation on 2nd July 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
