What is happening?

THE BOROUGH OF LUTON
(VARIOUS ROADS)
(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES) (No.25) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is hereby given that Luton Borough Council, the Highway Authority for the said Borough, intends to make the above Order under the relevant provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

The Order will come into operation on 3rd July 2025 for a period of 18 months or when the proposed works have been completed, whichever is the earlier. Specific dates and times will be signed locally. The Order will therefore be in operation during such date and time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs, barriers or cones.

The effect of the Order will allow the Council to close to vehicular traffic the following roads and lengths of roads:
Francis Street from its junction with Dunstable Road to its junction with Gas Work Path. Diversion route via Dunstable Road, Birch Link, Bury Park Road, Crawley Road. Alternatively, via Dunstable Road, Telford Way, Crawley Road. Anticipated date and times of closure 3rd July 2025, 9am to 5pm.
Leagrave Road the length of one way from a point opposite No.64 Leagrave Road to a point opposite No.32 Leagrave Road. Diversion route via Waller Avenue, Dunstable Road, Birch Link. Anticipated date and times of closure 14th July 2025, 8pm to 6am.
Brunel Road from its junction with Poynters Road to its junction with Carfax Close. Diversion route via Poynters Road, Leagrave High Street, Tomlinson Avenue, Kirkwood Road. Anticipated date of closure 21st July 2025.

The Order is intended to create a window for the works to be done and it is anticipated that the works will be completed over a period within the date described as above. The purpose of the Order is to enable gas works to be carried out. Access will be maintained as best as possible to properties where this may be done safely whilst such works are being carried out and diversions for traffic will be marked by signs.
