Luton - Multiple Traffic Notices

THE BOROUGH OF LUTON
(VARIOUS ROADS)
(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES) (No.24) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is hereby given that Luton Borough Council, the Highway Authority for the said Borough, intends to make the above Order under the relevant provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

The Order will come into operation on 26th July 2025 for a period of 18 months or when the proposed play street events have finished, whichever is the earlier. Specific dates and times will be signed locally. The Order will therefore be in operation during such date and time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs, barriers or cones.

The effect of the Order will allow the Council to close to vehicular traffic the following roads and lengths of roads:
Argyll Avenue from a point outside no.1 Argyll Avenue to a point outside of no.155 Argyll Avenue. No diversion route available. Anticipated date and times of closure 26th July 2025, 1pm to 4pm.
Longfield Drive from a point outside no.1 Longfield Drive to a point outside of no.20 Longfield Drive. No diversion route available. Anticipated date and times of closure 28th July 2025, 12pm to 3pm, 29th July 2025, 12pm to 3pm, 4th August 2025, 12pm to 3pm, 5th August 2025, 12pm to 3pm.
Pomfret Avenue from a point outside no.1 Pomfret Avenue to a point outside of no.130 Pomfret Avenue. No diversion route available. Anticipated date and times of closure 2nd August 2025, 12pm to 3pm, 1st November 2025, 1pm to 4pm, 4th April 2026, 1pm to 4pm.

The Order is intended to create a window for the staging of the Play Street events and it is anticipated that the events will take place over a period within the date described as above. The purpose of the Order is to enable safe passage of highway users attending the Play Street events. Access will be maintained as best as possible to properties where this may be done safely whilst the event is taking place.
