What is happening?

SOUTH TYNESIDE COUNCIL (WHICKHAM ROAD AREA, HEBBURN 20MPH) ORDER 2025

South Tyneside Council proposes to make an Order under Section 84 of and Schedule 9 to,
the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The effect of the Order
will be to reduce the speed limit in The Whickham Rd area to 20mph on the entire lengths of:- Aln St, Rear of Aln St and Tweed St, Carter Ave, Rear of Carter Ave and Vimy Ave, Rear of Hedgeley Rd, Jutland Ave, Mons Ave, Rede Ave, Rear of Rede Ave and Carter Ave, Rear of Station Rd and Aln St, Tweed St, Rear of Tweed St and Rede Ave, Unnamed access road from its junction with Aln St to its junction with rear of Whickham Rd, Verdun Ave, Rear of
Victoria Rd East adjacent to Aln St, Vimy Ave, Whickham Rd and Rear of Whickham Rd.
Full details of these proposals are contained in the draft order which, together with a plan
showing the lengths of road affected and a statement of the Council’s reasons for proposing
to make the Order, may be inspected from Monday to Friday during normal office hours at the Town Hall at the address below. Alternatively, you can request a copy of the documentation

If you wish to raise an objection, express support or make any other observations about these proposals, you must make them in writing to the Council’s Legal Services Department at the address below or by using the same email address above by the 8 July 2025. Any objections must specify the grounds on which they are made.
