Ascot Racecourse Area Roads – Temporary Traffic Restrictions due to Royal Meeting

THE ROYAL BOROUGH OF WINDSOR & MAIDENHEAD

(A330 WINKFIELD ROAD, NEW MILE ROAD, BURLEIGH ROAD, A330 STATION HILL & A329 HIGH STREET, ASCOT)

(ASCOT RACECOURSE EVENTS)

(TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025)

NOTICE IS HEREBY given that the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead, hereafter referred to as “the Council”, as Highway Authority for the area, has exercised its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other powers enabling them in that behalf and has made an Order the effect of which will be to:–

Temporarily Prohibit any vehicle from making a Left Turn onto A330 Station Road, Ascot when exiting from any gateway on its western side.

Temporarily Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that length of the A330 Winkfield Road, Ascot from its junction with New Mile Ride northwards to its junction with the Golf Course access Road (known as Holloway’s Gate), a distance of approximately 370 metres, at times between 17.30 hours and 20.30 hours only.

Temporarily prohibit any vehicle to proceed along that length of the Burleigh Road, Ascot from its junction with Kennel Avenue southwards for a distance of approximately 20 metres, at times between 10.00 hours and 13.30 hours and again between 17.00 hours and 20.30 hours only.

Temporarily Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that length of the A330 Winkfield Road, Ascot from its junction with A329 London Road northwards to its junction with the A332 Windsor Road at times between 10.00 hours and 13.30 hours only.

Temporarily Prohibit any vehicle from making a Right Turn onto New Mile Road, Ascot when exiting from any gateway on its southern side.

Temporarily Prohibit any vehicle from making a Left Turn onto New Mile Road, Ascot when exiting from any gateway on its northern side.

Temporarily Prohibit any vehicle from making a Left Turn onto New Mile Road, Ascot when exiting from any gateway on its northern side.

Temporarily Prohibit any vehicle from making a Right Turn from the southbound carriageway of the A330 Winkfield Road into Car Park 6 located on the western side of the public highway.

Temporarily Prohibit any vehicle from making a Right Turn from the northbound carriageway of the A329 High Street into the entrances to Car Park 5 located on the southern side of the public highway.

Temporarily Prohibit any vehicle from making a Right Turn from the westbound carriageway of the A329 High Street into the entrance to Car Park 6 located on the northern side of the public highway.

Temporarily Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that length of the A330 Station Road, Ascot from the entrance to the Fire Station southwards to the entrance with the railway station, a distance of approximately 355 metres for short periods of time between 17.30 hours and 20.30 hours.

Temporarily Prohibit the riding of bicycles on that length of the northern footway of the A329 Ascot High Street, 40 metres from its junction with A329 London Road roundabout in an easterly direction for a distance of 710 metres.

Temporarily Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding at a speed exceeding 20 mph along A329 High Street, Ascot for its entire length.

Temporarily Prohibit any vehicle from stopping along A329 High Street, Ascot from its junction with A332 Windsor Road to its junction with A330 Station Road.

The above prohibitions in the temporary Order shall only apply to and operate on those days on which the Royal Meeting is held. “The Royal Meeting” means the horse race meeting taking place at Ascot Racecourse in the summer of each year and known as the Royal Meeting.

The purpose of the temporary Order is because of the likelihood of danger to the public which may be caused by extra traffic generated as a result of the Royal Meeting.

The restrictions will help ensure the appropriate and safe management of traffic and pedestrians in the area in order to enhance road safety and reduce inconvenience to residents.
