M2 MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 7) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the M2 Motorway in the County of Kent, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act to prevent incursion into works proposed to be executed by contractors working on behalf of Kent County Council on the A299 north of National Highways’ jurisdiction.

The effect of the Order would be to authorise the overnight closure of the northbound carriageway of the M2 between the tip of the nosing of the exit slip road at M2 Junction 7 (A2/A299) and its transition to Kent County Council jurisdiction approximately 645 metres north-eastwards.

This measure would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake carriageway repairs on the A299.

It is expected that the work would take place in two phases, between the 14th and 25th July 2025, and again between the 15th and 26th September 2025.
The closures would be between 21:00 and 06:00 hours. Please consult National Highways or Kent County Council’s websites for further details.

The Order would come into force on 12th July 2025 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, ceasing when the works are complete.

Traffic affected by the closure would be diverted coast-bound on the A2 then use the A2050 and A290 under Local Authority control.

The temporary closures and diversion route would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period
