Footpath No. 12, Ashwater - Definitive Map and Statement Modification Order

What is happening?

NOTICE OF MODIFICATION ORDERS SECTION 53 OF THE WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981 COUNTY OF DEVON DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT DEVON COUNTY COUNCIL (FOOTPATH NO. 2, 3 & 4, ASHWATER) DEFINITIVE MAP MODIFICATION ORDER 2025 (FOOTPATH NO. 12, ASHWATER) DEFINITIVE MAP MODIFICATION ORDER 2025 

The above Orders made on 16" May 2025, if confirmed as made, will modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by deleting parts of Footpath Nos. 2, 3, and 4, running along Luckcroft/Chapel Lane to meet the county road, T2101, on the north side of Muckworthy Chapel Farm, and part of Footpath No. 12 running along the western side of Ashwater Green, in the parish of Ashwater and administrative district of Torridge.

Copies of the Orders and the Order maps may be seen free of charge by appointment with the:- Public Rights of Way Service, Great Moor House, Bittern Road, Sowton, Exeter, EX2 7NL; Torridge District Council, Riverside House, Bideford, EX39 2QG; Clerk to Ashwater Parish Council; and Online at www.devon.gov.uk/haveyoursay. 

Any representation or objection relating to either Order must be sent in writing to the Public Rights of Way Service, Great Moor House, Bittern Road, Sowton, Exeter, EX2 7NL, not later than 25th July 2025 and applicants are requested to state the grounds on which it is made.

Copies of any objections or representations received may be circulated to interested parties. 

If no representations or objections are duly made to either Order, or if any so made are withdrawn, the Devon County Council, instead of submitting the relevant Order to the Secretary of State, may itself confirm the Order. 

If either Order is submitted to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, any representations or objections, which have been duly made and not withdrawn, will be sent with it.
