Norfolk, Multiple Temporary Road Closures Due To Various Works

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS 2025 (NORWICH)

Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984

Norfolk County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, hereby give notice that:

1) THEY PROPOSE TO MAKE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

PECKOVER ROAD – from its junction with Pettus Road for 40m eastwards to facilitate works for water apparatus from the 17th to 20th June 2025 (may continue to 1st August 2025).

Alternate route is via: Peckover Road, Pettus Road, South Park Avenue, Bluebell Road, Osborne Road, Nasmith Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Anglian Water.

SWEET BRIAR ROAD AND DEREHAM ROAD

A) A140 Sweet Briar Road from its junction with Drayton Road to its junction with Hellesdon Hall Road and

B) A1074 Dereham Road from its junction with Sweet Briar Road Roundabout to its junction with Old Palace Road to facilitate Reclamite treatment to carriageway works.

The road 1) will be temporarily closed/restricted (except for pedestrian access) and the road 2) shall be temporarily subject to speed suspension and the 7.5 tonne weight restriction between 1900 and 2359 on 15th June 2025 (may continue until 27th July 2025).

Alternative route is via: A1067 Drayton Road, A1024 Mile Cross Road/Heigham Street (Old Palace Road), A1074 Dereham Road, A140 Sweet Briar Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

TOMBLAND (cycle lane) – from 4m north of its junction with Princes Street for 30m northwards to facilitate new gas connection works from 16th to 20th June 2025 (may continue until 1st August 2025).

Alternative route is via: Cyclists are advised to join carriageway. The works promoter is Cadent.

2) THEY HAVE MADE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

CITY ROAD – from its junction with Bracondale to its junction with Corton Road to facilitate footway reconstruction works.

The road 1) shall be temporarily closed and 2) shall be temporarily prohibited to all, 230m on one footpath and both the east and west sides of the carriageway from 9th to 27th June 2025 (may continue until 18th July 2025).

Alternative route is via: Bracondale, Queens Road, Hall Road, Hall Road, Queens Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

COTMAN ROAD – from its junction with Randolph Road in the north to 105m east of its junction with Hellesdon Mill Lane in the east via main junctions from 10th to 12th June 2025 (may continue until 24th July 2025).

Alternate route is via: Randolph Road, A140 Mile Cross Road, Cromer Road, A1042 Drayton Road, Cotman Road. Eastbound – Cotman Road, Thorpe Road and Cotman Road.

The works promoter is Anglian Water.

ST AUGUSTINE’S STREET & PIT STREET

1) St Augustine’s Street from its junction with St Crispins Road to its junction with Aylsham Road and

2) Pit Street from its junction with St Crispins Road to its junction with Aylsham Road to facilitate resurfacing works.

The roads 1) will be temporarily closed from 2100 to 0500 hrs on 21st and 22nd June 2025 (may continue until 1st July 2025).

Alternative route is via: St Crispin’s Road, Pitt Street, Heigham Street, Gold Street, Magdalen Road, Bull Close Road, Silver Road, Gilders Way, Whitefriars, Barrack Street, Charlton Road, St Martin at Palace Plain, Whitefriars, Palace Street, Tombland, Upper King Street, Agricultural Hall Plain, Upper King Street and vice versa. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

NB: Please note that Pitt Street will be closed in sections.

WENSUM STREET – 40m north of its junction with Elm Hill to 35m south of its junction with Fishergate to facilitate new washout and tee installation works between 0800 and 1600 on 18th June 2025 (may continue until 20th July 2025).

Alternative route is via: Northbound – Palace Street, St Martin at Palace Plain, Whitefriars, Barrack Street, Charlton Road, St Martin at Palace Plain, Colegate.

Southbound – Fye Bridge, Whitefriars, St Martin at Palace Plain, Palace Street and Wensum Street.

The works promoter is Anglian Water.

Unless otherwise stated, the effect of the Orders will be to prohibit the use by vehicles of the roads named (footpaths). In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed in advance. When an Order is required to ensure that works is because of the likelihood of danger to the public or serious damage to the road/footpath.

Anticipated dates are stated but the Orders may continue until the end date where necessary or required.

The Orders are revoked on the end date or on the actual date of removal of the prohibition/restriction where earlier without further notice.

Any person who uses a road in contravention of a restriction/prohibition under any of the provisions of the Orders can have a maximum duration of 18 months or more in respect of footpaths, cycle paths, bridleways, restricted byways, and byways open to all traffic (BOAT).

Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
