Carlisle - Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Highway Works

What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (MOSSRIGG AND BORLAND AVENUE, CARLISLE)

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable highway works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:

1. Mossrigg, Carlisle from its junction with Newlaithes Avenue, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 40m

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of Mossrigg, Stonegarth, Westrigg Road and Newlaithes Avenue.

Duration: From 7 July 2025 for approx. 5 days (Ref: TTROC/15117)

2. Borland Avenue, Carlisle from its junction with Durranhill Road, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 190m.

There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.

Duration: From 21 July for approx. 5 days (Ref: TTROC/15097)

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 7 July 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months.

However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
