Cumbria - Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Highway Works

What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (C4029 MAIN STREET, MILLOM TO HAVERIGG AND A5093 THE HILL AND HALLTHWAITES, NEAR MILLOM) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable highway works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:

1. C4029 Main Street, Millom to Haverigg (Ref: TTROC/15028)

From its junction with the A5093 at Langthwaite, extending in an overall southerly direction to its junction with Glencoe Close in Haverigg.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the C4029 Main Street, Poolside, Haverigg Road, Palmers Lane and the A5093.

2. A5093 The Hill, near Millom (Ref: TTROC/15029)

From its junction with the U4078, extending in a northerly direction for approx 200m.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the A5093 via Millom and the A595 via Whicham.

3. A5093 Hallthwaites (Ref: TTROC/15030)

From its junction with Duddale Brow extending in a southerly direction for approx 560m.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the A5093 via Millom, A595 via Whicham and Duddale Brow.

A walkway for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 1 July 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that each restriction will only be required for up to 1 day within the period 1 July 2025 to 1 October 2025, and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.
