What is happening?

Notice is given that the Council of the City of Peterborough intends in not less than seven days to make an Order pursuant to section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984:

The City of Peterborough Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic Order 2025 – Newark Road  Ref: 26-056

The effect of which is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along the road known as Newark Road, as lies between Newark Road/Boongate roundabout and 30m east, eastbound carriageway only. The Council is satisfied that traffic should be prohibited due to proposed works being executed on the above road. The alternative route for vehicles affected by this order is: Boongate, Boongate roundabout 5, Carr Road and Padholme Road East. The proposed order will come into force on the 22/06/2025 and will continue until the telecoms mast maintenance works have been completed or until the 21/06/2026, whichever is the earlier. Closure dates will be confirmed locally on site. It is anticipated that the works will take place on the 22/06/2025 only, between 10:00 and 16:00. The effect of which is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along the roads detailed in the schedule below.

Phase 4: London Road southbound as lies between Sherwood Avenue and High Street, Fletton Fletton Avenue, Whittlesey Road, Fletton Parkway Junction 4, Fletton Parkway Link Road from Junction 3A to 4, Fletton Parkway Junction 3A, Fletton Parkway, The Serpentine, London Road Road Closure – Southbound only 24/7 21/07/2025 to 15/08/2025
Phase 5: London Road southbound as lies between Sherwood Avenue and High Street, Fletton 11/08/2025 to 05/09/2025
Phase 5: New 05/09/2025 Road at its junction with London Road, Northbound only London Road, Oundle Road, New Road Road Closure – Northbound only 24/7

The Council is satisfied that traffic should be prohibited due to proposed works being executed on the above roads. The alternative routes for vehicles affected by this order are detailed in the schedule. The proposed order will come into force on the 16/06/2025 and will continue until the gas main replacement works have been completed or until the 15/06/2026, whichever is the earlier. Closure dates will be confirmed locally on site. It is anticipated that the works will take place between 16/06/2025 and 26/09/2025. Only 1 phase of works will be in progress at any one time.
