Hertfordshire, Multiple Temporary Road Closures Due To Various Works
What is happening?
HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:
(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS IN LONDON COLNEY AND SHENLEY) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads ("the Roads"):
The B556 Bell Lane/B556 Ridge Hill roundabout, London Colney from its junction with A1081 Bell Link Overbridge clockwise for its entire length.
An alternative route will be via A1081 (Bell Link Overbridge/London Colney Bypass), A414 North Orbital Road, A1001 (Roehyde Way/South Way), A1000 Great North Road/Hatfield Road/High Street) and B556 (Mutton Lane/Cecil Road/St Albans Road/Ridge Hill)
or via A1081 (Bell Link Overbridge/London Colney Bypass), A414 North Orbital Road, A5183 (Watling Street/Park Street/Frogmore/Radlett Road/Watling Street) and B556 (Harper Lane/Bell Lane).
or via the M25, the A405 North Orbital Road roundabout and the M25.
That length of A1081 Bell Link Overbridge, Shenley from its junction with the A1081 the Bell roundabout south eastwards to its junction with the B556 Bell Lane/B556 Ridge Hill roundabout, a distance of approximately 247m.
An alternative route will be via A1081 London Colney Bypass, A414 North Orbital Road, A1001 (Roehyde Way/South Way), A1000 (Great North Road/Hatfield Road/High Street) and B556 (Mutton Lane/Cecil Road/St Albans Road/Ridge Hill)
or via A1081 London Colney Bypass, A414 North Orbital Road, A5183 (Watling Street/Park Street/Frogmore/Radlett Road/Watling Street) and B556 (Harper Lane/Bell Lane).
That length of B556 Bell Lane, London Colney from its junction with the B556 Bell Link Overbridge/B556 Ridge Hill roundabout north westwards and south westwards for a distance of approximately 295m.
An alternative route will be via A1081 (Bell Link Overbridge/London Colney Bypass), A414 North Orbital Road, A5183 (Watling Street/Park Street/Frogmore/Radlett Road/Watling Street) and B556 (Harper Lane/Bell Lane).
That length of B556 Ridge Hill, Shenley from its junction with the B556 Bell Link Overbridge/B556 Bell Lane roundabout southwards, continuing south eastwards to its junction with the A1081, a distance of approximately 550m.
An alternative route will be via A1081 (Bell Link Overbridge/ London Colney Bypass), A414 North Orbital Road, A5183 (Watling Street/Park Street/Frogmore/Radlett Road/Watling Street) and B556 (Harper Lane/Bell Lane).
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 23 June 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.
