Hertfordshire, Multiple Temporary Road Closures Restrictions
What is happening?
HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:
(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF LITTLE ALMSHOUSE LANE, ST IPPOLYTS) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Little Almshouse Lane, St Ippolyts from a point 205m north east of its junction with B656 London Road south westwards for a distance of approximately 60m (“the Road”), except for access.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order shall come into force on 23 June 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, it is anticipated that the works will be completed within 5 days and the restrictions shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.
An alternative route will be via Little Almshouse Lane, B656 London Road, Stevenage Hill and Little Almshouse Lane.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THE FOOTWAY SITUATED ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF NOS.581-593 LONSDALE ROAD, STEVENAGE) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all pedestrians from using the footpath situated on the south side of Nos.581-593 Lonsdale Road, Stevenage for a distance of approximately 20m (“the Footpath”).
An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the west side of Lonsdale Road, the cycle track/footpath situated on the south side of Nos 633-649 Lonsdale Road, the south side of Nos. 599-615 Lonsdale Road and the west side of Lonsdale Road to the southbound side of the Footpath.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Footpath.
The Order shall come into force on 23 June 2025 for a period of up to 6 months. However, the restrictions shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Footpath.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF ARENA PARADE, LETCHWORTH GARDEN CITY) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Arena Parade, Letchworth Garden City from a point 63m north east of its junction with Eastcheap north westwards and north eastwards to its junction with Broadway, a distance of approximately 25m (“the Road”).
An alternative route will be via Arena Parade, Eastcheap, Leys Avenue, Station Place and Broadway via Broadway, Openshaw Way and Arena Parade.
The Order is needed because the replacement of an access grade man is proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order shall come into force on 23 June 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN NORTH BURY LANE, LETCHWORTH GARDEN CITY AND PRIORS HILL ROAD, HITCHIN) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”) and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of the Roads while works are in progress:
that length of North Bury Lane, Letchworth Garden City from its junction with Letchworth Gate north eastwards to its junction with Norton Way North, a distance of approximately 64m.
that length of Priors Hill Road, Hitchin from its junction with Fishponds Road north eastwards to its junction with Benslow Rise, a distance of approximately 81m.
There is no alternative route available for North Bury Lane.
An alternative route for Priors Hill Road traffic will be via: Fishponds Road, Benslow Rise and Priors Hill Road.
The Order is needed because water mains works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
The Order came into effect on 2 June 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions shall only apply at such times as the signs are in place on or near the Roads. Works are expected to take place during the period 2 June to 21 June 2025.

THE HERTFORDSHIRE (ARENA PARADE, LETCHWORTH GARDEN CITY) (ONE WAY TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council in exercise of their powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to introduce a One-Way Order in part of Letchworth Garden City as specified in the Schedule to this Notice.
Documents giving more detailed particulars of the proposals may be viewed from 5 June 2025 during office hours, at Main Reception, County Hall, Hertford, or on-line at: www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/trafficorders, or may be requested free of charge.

HERTFORDSHIRE (STEVENAGE ROAD, KNEBWORTH) (RESTRICTION OF WAITING) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to introduce new restrictions on parts of Stevenage Road, Knebworth as specified in the Schedule to this Notice. The restrictions will come into effect on Monday 16 June 2025.
Documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order may be viewed from 5 June 2025 during normal office hours at Main Reception, County Hall, Hertford or online at: www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/trafficorders by selecting North Herts and looking at ref: NH14724.
If you wish to question the validity of the Order, or any of its provisions, on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the 1984 Act, or that any requirement of the Act or of any instrument made under it has not been complied with, you may apply to the High Court for this purpose.
SCHEDULE: Add to Schedule 1 – No waiting at any time – south east side – from a point 20m north east of a point in line with the north east kerb line of Milestone Road north eastwards for a distance of 15m.
