Reading – Multiple Temporary Road Closures and Restrictions due to Works

What is happening?

READING BOROUGH COUNCIL

(BLAGRAVE LANE) (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2025

Reading Borough Council has made an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily close the length of Blagrave Lane to the rear of 78 and 79 Chazey Road. The Order will come into force from 11-13 June 2025. Should the works take longer than expected the restriction will remain in force for up to 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier. The Order is necessary for trial excavation works and installation of a new washout. A signed diversion route will be in place.

(BLAGDON ROAD) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2025

Reading Borough Council intend to make an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily close the entire length of Blagdon Road and London Road from Sutton Seeds roundabout to Cumberland Road to all traffic, suspend all parking restrictions and loading restrictions with a no waiting no loading or unloading restriction. If made, the Order will come into force on 13 June 2025 for 1 day. Should the works take longer than expected the order will remain in force for up to 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier. The Order is necessary in the interest of public safety to allow highway and drainage maintenance works to be carried out.

(WILLIAM STREET) (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2025

Reading Borough Council intend to make an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily close the entire width of William Street from outside numbers 64b-46 . If made, the Order will come into force from 16 - 18 June 2025. Should the works take longer than expected the restriction will remain in force for up to 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier. The Order is necessary for water service pipe relays. A signed diversion route will be in place throughout.

(KING’S RD) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2025

Reading Borough Council intend to make an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily:

• Suspend the bus lane restriction along King’s Rd;

• Suspend the closure from 99-105 King’s Road within the left hand turn lane onto Forbury Rd; and

• Suspend the left turn from King’s Rd onto Forbury Rd.

If made, the Order will come into force from 18-19 June 2025 between 19:00-05:00 hours. Should the works take longer than expected the restriction will remain in force for up to 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier. The Order is necessary to facilitate works within a carriageway asset. A signed diversion route will be in place throughout.
