What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Oxford, Sandy Lane West

Prohibition of Through Traffic and Waiting

Date of Order: 2 June 2025

Coming into force: 9 June 2025

This Order is being introduced because of road surface dressing works which are anticipated to be completed by 20 June 2025. (This is a 24 hour road closure).

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding or waiting in the whole length of Sandy Lane West between Blackbird Leys Road and the Bypass. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic is via Southern bypass – Rose Hill – Henley Ave – Between Towns Road – Barns Road – Blackbird Leys Road and vice versa.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.

Oxford, Godstow Road

Prohibition of Through Traffic and Waiting

Date of Order: 2 June 2025

Coming into force: 9 June 2025

This Order is being introduced because of surface dressing works which are anticipated to be completed 20 June 2025. This is a 24 hour road closure.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding or waiting on Godstow Road between junctions with the A34 flyover. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic is via Godstow Road, A34, Woodstock Road, Godstow Road and vice versa.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic is via Bayswater Road, North Way, Barton Village Road, Fettiplace Road.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.

Prohibition of Through Traffic and Waiting

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding or waiting in the whole length of Stowford Road between Underhill Circus and Bayswater Road. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic is via Bayswater Road, North Way, Barton Village Road, Fettiplace Road.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.

Prohibition of Through Traffic and Waiting

Date of Order: 2 June 2025

Coming into force: 9 June 2025

This Order is being introduced because of road surface dressing works which are anticipated to be completed 20 June 2025. This is a 24 hour road closure.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding or waiting in the whole length of Balfour Road between Blackbird Leys Road to Lodden Way. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. Access will be maintained for cyclists and pedestrians. The alternative route for traffic is via Blackbird Leys Road, Cuddesdon Way and vice versa.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Oxford, Bulwarks Lane Footpath

Date of Order: 23 June 2025

Coming into force: 30 June 2025

This Order is being introduced because of adjacent construction works at St Peter’s College which is anticipated to be completed on 14 November 2025. This is a 24 hour footpath closure.

The effect of the Order is to close the lane temporarily for safety reasons during the works. Exemptions are included for emergency services, for works and for pedestrian access to premises which are only accessible from the closed sections of footpath. The nearby alternative route will be signed locally.

Appropriate signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1) & (7)

Temporary Parking Bay Suspension

Oxford, Mill Street

Date of Order: 23 June 2025

Coming into force: 30 June 2025

This Order is being introduced due to utility diversions as part of the Botley Road Bridge project which are anticipated to be completed 30 June 2026. This is a 24 hour parking bay suspension.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily suspend 2 parking spaces on the east side of Mill Street at its junction with Beckett Street. Waiting will be prohibited. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

Exceptions are included for emergency service vehicles and for the purpose of the works.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.

The relevant parts of the The Oxfordshire County Council (West Oxford and Osney Mead) (Controlled Parking Zone and Waiting Restrictions) Order 2003 as amended will be temporarily suspended in respect of 1 hour permitted parking.

Temporary Parking Bay Suspension

Oxford, Cherwell Street

Date of Order: 16 June 2025

Coming into force: 27 June 2025

This Order is being introduced because of reconstruction of a retaining wall which is anticipated to be completed 22 August 2025. This is a 24 hour parking bay suspension.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily suspend parking bays at the south-west end of Cherwell Street outside Nos. 19, 21, 23 and 25. Parking will be prohibited at this location.

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

Exceptions are included for emergency service vehicles and for the purpose of the works.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.

The relevant parts of The Oxfordshire County Council (East Oxford) (Controlled Parking Zone Waiting Restrictions and Traffic Management) Order 2010 (as amended) will be temporarily suspended for the duration of the works in respect of Residents Permit Parking and 2 hour permitted parking.

Temporary Parking Bay Suspension

Oxford, St Bernards Road

Date of Order: 16 June 2025

Coming into force: 26 June 2025

This Order is being introduced to facilitate refurbishment works at Belsyre Court which is anticipated to be completed 27 March 2026. Public parking will be prohibited in and around Belsyre Court for vehicle and material loading and unloading deliveries. This is a 24 hour parking bay restriction.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily suspend 4 resident permit holders parking spaces on St Bernards Road outside Belsyre Court. The Disabled Persons parking bays are not affected.

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

Exceptions are included for emergency service vehicles and for the purpose of the works.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner.

The relevant parts of The Oxfordshire County Council (Walton Manor, Oxford) (Parking Places and Traffic Management) (Consolidation) Order 2003 (as amended) affecting parking bays will be temporarily suspended.
