What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 SECTION 14 (1)

THE BOLTON (PUBLIC FOOTPATHS WESTHOUGHTON 044 & 043)

(TEMPORARY CLOSURE) (NO. ) ORDER 2025

The Borough Council of Bolton intends to make an Order not less than seven days from the date of this Notice.

The effect, which will be operative from 10th June 2025, will prohibit all pedestrian traffic from using:

  • Public Footpath Westhoughton 043, commencing from Chorley Road point A at grid reference SD 64616 07556 in a generally southwest by south then south by west direction to Wimberry Hill Road point B at grid reference SD 64596 07468; as shown by the bold black line on the Order plan 1Wes044/043 over a total distance of approximately 92 metres.

  • Public Footpath Westhoughton 044, commencing from Wimberry Hill Road point B at grid reference SD 64596 07468 in a generally northwest by west then west by south direction to point C at grid reference SD 64141 07479; as shown by the bold black line on the Order plan 1Wes044/043 over a total distance of approximately 490 metres.

An alternative route will be available commencing from Wimberry Hill Road point B at grid reference SD 64596 07468, then via Wes042, Wes033, Wes045 to point C at grid reference SD 64141 07479.

The Order is necessary to facilitate the construction of a road and surrounding development and will continue for a period of 6 months, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier.
