Chapel Street - Prohibtion of Right Turn Suspension

What is happening?

The Council of the City of Salford intends to make in no less than 7 days under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984: SALFORD CITY COUNCIL (CHAPEL STREET ONE-WAY TRAFFIC AND BUS LANE SUSPENSION) (VICTORIA BRIDGE STREET PROHIBTION OF RIGHT TURN SUSPENSION) TEMPORARY ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025.

The Order will temporarily revoke traffic regulation orders 2325A and 2325B:

• A56 Chapel Street (TRO 2325A):
i. One-way for south-westbound traffic, from a point 47 metres northeast of the north-easterly projected kerbline of Greengate, in a south westerly direction to its junction with Victoria Bridge Street.

ii. Contra-flow north-eastbound bus lane, from the junction of Victoria Bridge Street, in a north easterly direction to a point 47 metres northeast of the north-easterly projected kerbline of Greengate.

• A56 Victoria Bridge Street (TRO 2325B):
i. Prohibition of right turn from Victoria Bridge Street on to A56 Chapel Street except for buses and cycles.

This Order is necessary to relieve congestion and traffic issues while the Chapel Street East and New Bailey Gateway scheme is taking place.

The order is due to come into operation on the 1st July 2025 and will last for a period of 18 months or until the works are completed if earlier. The works are expected to be completed by early 2026.
