M62 Motorway (Junction 29 to Junction 28) - Temporary Closures for Maintenance
What is happening?

THE M62 MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 29 TO JUNCTION 28)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the M62 Motorway, in the City of Leeds, to enable resurfacing, structure repair, maintenance, loop cutting, road marking, stud replacement, gully emptying, carriageway sweeping, sign replacement, communication equipment maintenance, grass cutting, weed spraying, street light repair, general maintenance, safety barrier inspection and repair works to be carried out in safety.
The works are expected to start at 8pm on Friday 4 July 2025 until 6am on Monday 7 July 2025 and between the same times over subsequent weekends until completed.
The effect of the Order will be to close, at times during the works, the:
(i) M62 westbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Junction 29 (Lofthouse) to the entry slip road at Junction 28 (Tingley), a distance of 4800 metres;
(ii) M62 westbound entry slip road at Junction 29; (iii) M62 westbound exit slip road at Junction 28;
(iv) M62 eastbound exit slip road at Junction 29;
(v) link road connecting the M1 northbound carriageway and dedicated exit slip road to the M62 westbound carriageway and dedicated entry slip road at Lofthouse Interchange (The M1 Junction 42 and M62 Junction 29); and
(vi) link road connection the M1 southbound carriageway with the M62 westbound carriageway at Lofthouse Interchange;
(vii) M62 circulatory carriageway at Lofthouse
Interchange, a distance of 350 metres; During the closures suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times.
Traffic management will be in force 24 hours a day and traffic signs will indicate the extent of the prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works, to anyone engaged in the said works, or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes).The Order comes into force on 3 July 2025 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
