Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025
On 30 May 2025, Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1), 14(5) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to:- (a) prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the entire length of Lower Church Lane (D5335); (b) prohibit the use of the footway adjacent to Lower Church Lane (D5335); and (c) suspend “The Surrey County Council Lower Middle and Upper Church Lanes (D5335) Farnham One-Way Traffic (Number 2) Order 1985”, insofar as it relates to the alternative route. NB – access to the Waggon Yard carpark will be restricted during the works.
Alternative route – Downing Street, Upper Church Lane, Middle Church Lane, or this route in reverse.
This Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to facilitate Farnham Town Centre Improvement Scheme and all associated works. These works are anticipated to be completed during both daytime and nighttime on weekdays and Saturdays. The works will begin as soon possible within the 18-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 16 June 2025. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closures, which are anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner. There will be no access for residents and businesses while works are in place so will be required to follow the diversion route. In the event that it is necessary to restrict any access at any time, under Section 3 of the Act, the road can only be closed for a maximum of 8 hours in any 24-hour period.

Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2025
On 4 June 2025 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in the lengths of roads specified and described in the Schedule to this Notice. This Order is required to enable Surrey County Council to facilitate safety defect works and/or major maintenance works, which is anticipated to be completed as soon as possible within the 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 18 June 2025. Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. In the event that it is necessary to restrict any access at any time under Section 3 of the Act, the road can only be closed for a maximum of 8 hours in any 24-hour period. Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to a suitable location outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle’s owner. Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times. Access to premises within the affected length of road, including access for emergency service vehicles to these properties, will be maintained when safe to do so and if necessary via the signed diversion route.

1. that length of B2131 Lower Street, Haslemere which extends from its junction with B2131 Wey Hill to its junction with A286 High Street. Alternative Route – A286 High Street, A286 Grayswood Road, A283 Cherry Tree Road, A283 Guildford Road, A3 (National Highways), A333 Portsmouth Road and A287 Hindhead Road;
2. the entire length of D5317 Middlefield, Farnham. Alternative Route – D5317 Green Lane (part diversion only).
