What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Blunts Hall Road/Dancing Dicks Lane, Witham)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Blunts Hall Road/Dancing Dicks Lane, Witham in the District of Braintree, from the junction with Highfields/Spinks Lane for a distance of approximately 1920m in a westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 23rd June 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2385814 – Essex County Council).

The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while drainage and gully works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Dancing Dicks Lane, Terling Road, Powers Hall End, Spa Road, Highfields Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 5th June 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(East Street, Braintree & Bocking)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of East Street, Braintree and Bocking in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Manor Street for a distance of approximately 50m in a northerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 23rd June 2025 for 30 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AZ5011001416968 – Cadent). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while mains replacement works are undertaken by Cadent.

An alternative route is available via Coggeshall Road, Coggeshall Road – Railway Street Junction, Railway Street, Trinovantian Way, Manor Street and vice versa (with access only into East Street).

The Order will come into effect on 5th June 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Sportsmans Lane, Hatfield Peverel)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Sportsmans Lane, Hatfield Peverel in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 190m north west of its junction with Nounsley Road for a distance of approximately 25m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 25th June 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD01310783986 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

An alternative route is available via Sportsmans Lane, Nounsley Road, Ulting Road, Maldon Road, Church Road, Crabb’s Hill, Sportsmans Lane and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 5th June 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Brownrigg Drive, Braintree & Bocking)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Brownrigg Drive, Braintree and Bocking in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 25m south west of its junction with Bovingdon Road for a distance of approximately 20m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 9th June 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411003WG5T6F6J – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while duct laying works are undertaken by Openreach.

An alternative route is available via Brownrigg Drive, Samuel Courtauld Avenue, Dyers Mead, Bovingdon Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 22nd May 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Howe Street, Finchingfield)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Howe Street, Finchingfield in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 615m north east of its junction with Little London Hill for a distance of approximately 100m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 10th June 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD01310775398 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

An alternative route is available via The Causeway, Church Hill, Wethersfield Road, Finchingfield Road, Meadsdie, Silver Street, High Street, Hudsons Hill, Hedingham Road, Wethersfield Road, Almshouse Green, Wethersfield Road, Prayors Hill, Rectory Road, Swan Street, Yeldham Road, Crouch Green, Yeldham Road, Hedingham Road, Poole Street, High Street, Church Road, Ridgewell Road, Stambourne Road, Great Yeldham Road and vice versa (with access only into Dyers End, Finchingfield Road, Robinhood End, Finchingfield Road – Howe Street To Dyer’s End – Zc161, Upper Howe Street, Howe Street, Duck End and the Causeway).

The Order came into effect on 22nd May 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) (No.9) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close those lengths of roads in the District of Braintree as specified in the Schedule.

  2. A temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on the above lengths of roads for the duration of the closures to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping restriction will be in force.

  3. “The Essex County Council (Braintree District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of roads only.

    All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 22nd May 2025; exact dates will be specified on One.network. The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the road.
