What is happening?

NORTH YORKSHIRE COUNCIL

20 Mph Speed Limit, Howden Road, Barlby, Order 2025 Notice is hereby given that on 30/05/25 The North Yorkshire Council made an Order under Sections 84(1) & (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 & Part IV of Schedule 9 to the 1984 Act, the effect of which is to prohibit any motor vehicle from travelling at a speed in excess of 20 mph on any length of road specified below. Howden Road, Barlby, Howden Road, Barlby from the junction with Church Lane Eastbound until the junction with Pindars Way. A copy of the Order, which comes into operation on 09/06/25, may be examined at County Hall, Northallerton & at Barlby Library & Community Hub, Howden Road, Barlby, YO8 5JE during normal office hours from 05/06/25 until 11/07/25 & also viewed online at

If you wish to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained in it, on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act, or of any Instrument made under it, has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may, within 6 weeks of 30/05/25 make application to the High Court for the purpose.
