What is happening?

Order 2025



The Council on 30/5/2025 made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on the following lengths of road a 325 metre length of Lowhills Road between its junctions with Mill Hill and Lancaster Hill, Peterlee to enable A19 Bridge repair and painting works to be undertaken. An alternative route will be available to vehicular traffic from the western side of the closure from Mill Lane south to Burnhope Way/Shotton Road Roundabout then east on Burnhope Way and north on Essington Way to the junction with Lowhills Road to the eastern side of the closure, and vice versa. The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are to commence on 9/6/2025 between 6.30pm and 3.00am for the duration of the works anticipated to be one week, with a further 3 weeks from around the 8/9/2025. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
