What is happening?

THE PORTSMOUTH CITY COUNCIL (CITY CENTRE) (SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2025


1. Notice is hereby given that the Portsmouth City Council proposes to make the above Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
The effect of this Order is to make an administrative amendment to the existing legal order, namely, to separate the provisions relating to speed limits into a distinct Speed Limits Order, independent of the existing Traffic Regulation Order.
There will be no alteration to the current speed limit of 20 miles per hour on the following roads:

Brewer Street
For its entire length
Cascades Approach
from its junction with Charlotte Street to its junction with Unicorn Road
Charlotte Street
For its entire length
Commercial Road
from its junction with Charlotte Street to its junction with Marketway
Eden Street
For its entire length
Landport View
For its entire length
Pan Street
For its entire length
Pye Street
For its entire length
Toby Street
For its entire length
Copies of the Order, Statement of Reasons and Map are available to view on Portsmouth City Council’s website: Search "Traffic Regulation Orders 2025" at

www.portsmouth.gov.uk.

Alternatively, they can be viewed at the Civic Offices, Guildhall Square, PO1 2AL, Monday to Friday between 9am - 4pm. Printed copies can be obtained by calling 0239284176.
Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the relevant enabling Act, or that a requirement of any such enabling Act or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with, may, within 6 weeks from the date of the Order, make application for this purpose to the High Court.
