What is happening?

Temporary traffic regulation ORDER 2025
Sunderland City Council gives notice that it intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which is to temporarily prohibit all pedestrian traffic from the section of footpath described in the schedule. The Order is required to allow for the construction of a new reservoir and pipeline installation. The order will come into force on 4th July 2025. The maximum duration of the closure under the Order will be six months. However, it is anticipated that the works will take approximately four months. All pedestrians will be prohibited from the section of footpath described in the schedule (except for personnel involved in the works), until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. An alternative route will be provided via the adjacent highway network.
Schedule Footpath North of Leisure United Washington – from the extended eastern property boundary of Leisure United Washington for a distance of 219 metres in a westerly direction.
