Oxford, Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures due to Special Event

What is happening?

OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

(OXFORD – CANCER RESEARCH UK RACE FOR LIFE) (SPECIAL EVENT) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that on 23 June 2025 Oxfordshire County Council intends to make the above order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. This Order is to facilitate the holding of the 5K & 10K event on Sunday 29 June 2025, which is promoted by Cancer Research UK,

The effect of the order is to prohibit vehicles from proceeding and/or waiting in the following roads:

    1. from 9.00am to 11.15am St Cross Road, South Parks Road, Longwall Street (parking bays will be suspended in Longwall Street from 00.01 to 11.15hrs)

    1. from 9.00am to 11.30am High Street (*except Buses and Taxis) from The Plain to St Aldates;

    1. from 9.00am to 11.30am Queens Lane, New College Lane and Catte Street;

    1. between 9.00am & 11.45am Parks Road No northbound traffic and suspension of 14 parking bays, and access will only be available for properties southbound from Banbury Road; (parking bays will be suspended from 00.01 to 11.15hrs);

    1. between 9.00am & 11.45am Southbound traffic will be suspended in Norham Gardens south of Bradmore Road (and diverted along Bradmore Road); (**No Waiting restrictions will also apply/parking suspended from 00.01hrs)

  1. Due to closures, access will be restricted/controlled to Holywell Street, Jowett Walk, Manor Road, Mansfield Road and Savile Road.

The relevant provisions of the Oxfordshire County Council (City of Oxford) (Central Area) (Traffic Management) (Consolidation) Order 2003 (as amended) will be suspended to allow controlled two-way use from 9am to 11.45am for light vehicles (under 7.5t) both ways in Turl Street; and access permitted/controlled from Banbury Road for Keble Road, Blackhall Road and Museum Road.

Exemptions are included for emergency services and for controlled access.

Alternative routes for traffic affected by the closures in the city centre are via the Oxford Ring Road, Marston Ferry Road, and Marston Road.
