A596, Lillyhall, Workington - Temporary Road Closure due to Highway Works
What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (A596 LILLYHALL) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable highway works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that section of the A596, Lillyhall from its junction with the U2185 to its junction with the U7141 Jubilee Road.
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times and a suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted sections of the A596, A595, A66 Stainburn and Great Clifton Bypass, Stainburn Road, Ramsay Brow, A596 Washington Street, Guard Street, Cross Hill, High Street and Whitehaven Road.

The Order will come into operation on 29 June 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 6 days and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
