Order 2025
The Council on 16/5/2025 made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all pedestrian traffic from proceeding on the following length of footpath. A 209 metre length of Footpath No.1 Cassop-cum-Quarrington Parish that extends generally westwards from the new internal roundabout at Harvey Way, and also a 349 metre length extending between the Harvey Way Roundabout and A688 near to Durham South (Bowburn Services), Bowburn to enable development works to be undertaken.
Alternative routes are available to pedestrian traffic via the network of rights of way in the Bowburn / Tursdale area and new footways on the site. The maximum duration of the Order is 6 months. The closure is required from Friday 23/5/2025 for a period of up to 6 months, or until the works are sufficiently complete and the footpath formally diverted, whichever is the sooner. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
