What is happening?

THE CITY OF EDINBURGH COUNCIL

(CRAIGHALL ROAD AREA)
(TEMPORARY ROAD
RESTRICTION AND TRAFFIC REGULATION)
ORDER 2025 – TEMP/25/71

The Council has made an order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be that for a temporary period, no person shall: a) to facilitate a safe area for building works; i) drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle on any part of; & ii) except with the permission of a Parking Attendant, cause or permit any vehicle to wait or load onto or unload from any vehicle at any time on both sides of Craighall Rd, from the south-east kerbline of Grandville, south-eastwards to the north-west kerbline of Craighall Ave; & (b) to facilitate improved traffic flow for diverted traffic, except with the permission of a Parking Attendant, cause or permit any vehicle to wait or load onto or unload from any vehicle at any time on any part of: (i) Craighall Rd, both sides, from the north kerbline of Stanley Rd, northwards for 30m; (ii) Stanley Rd, both sides; (1) from the east kerbline of Craighall Rd, eastwards for 30m; (2) from the east kerbline of Derby St, eastwards to the west kerbline of Newhaven Rd; (iii) Newhaven Rd, both sides, from the south kerbline of Hawthornvale, southwards for 45m; & (iv) Newhaven Rd, south-west side; (1) from the north-west kerbline of Summerside Pl, north-westwards to the south-east kerbline of Dudley Gdns; & (2) from the north-west building line of 141 Newhaven Rd, north-westwards for 45m. The alternative route for vehicular traffic with respect to the closure is: Craighall Rd, Ferry Rd, Newhaven Rd, Stanley Rd & Craighall Rd. Existing parking restrictions will be suspended on the affected sections of roads described. The Order shall come into operation on 02/06/2025. The City of Edinburgh Council is satisfied that the execution of the works referred to in this Order will take in excess of eighteen months.
