Wiltshire - The Road Traffic Regulation For Urgent Tree Safety Works

SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council has made an Order to close temporarily to all traffic: A4 (Part), Box; from its junction with C168 for a distance of approximately 407m in a north easterly direction to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out urgent tree safety works and other associated works. Alternative route via A4 (unaffected length) – A350 – A420 – A46 – A4 (unaffected length) and vice versa. 

The closure and diversion route will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. This Order will come into operation on 01 June 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 23:59 and 08:00 for 1 night and then again on 8 June 2025 between the hours of 23:59 and 08:00 for 1 night. It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works. The Order will have a maximum duration of 18 months. Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council has made an Order to close temporarily to all users: A) Footpath 75 (Part), Box; from its junction with Lower Kingsdown Road for a distance of approximately 78m in a south easterly direction. B) Footpath 76 (Part), Box; from its junction with Lower Kingsdown Road for a distance of approximately 400m in a northerly direction. C) Footpath 78 (Part), Box; from its junction with Lower Kingsdown Road for a distance of approximately 47m in a southerly direction. D) Footpath 78A (Part), Box; from its junction with Lower Kingsdown Road for a distance of approximately 203m in a southerly direction. E) Footpath 87 (Part), Box; from its junction with UC 816703 for a distance of approximately 140m in a north easterly direction. F) Footpath 87 (Part), Box; from its junction with Lower Kingsdown Road fir a distance of approximately 100m in a north easterly direction to enable tree felling operations to remove diseased ash with heavy machine traffic (felling license ref: 018/3820/2024). 

Alternative route via existing highways and public rights of way. 

The closures and diversion route will be clearly indicated by traffic signs.

This Order will come into operation on 01 June 2025 and it is anticipated that the closures will be required until 30 September 2025. 

Access will be maintained where possible although delays are likely due to the nature of the works. 

The Order will have a maximum duration of 6 months.
