Carmel Road North, Darlington - Temporary Road Closure due to Road Surfacing Works
What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC AND CLEARWAY) ORDER 2025
CARMEL ROAD NORTH, DARLINGTON
Darlington Borough Council intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make an Order under the provisions of Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily introduce:
1. No stopping at any time (clearway); and
2. The prohibition of the driving of vehicles
on the following road:
CARMEL ROAD NORTH
From the roundabout at Coniscliffe Road northwards to the north side of Abbey Road junction
An alternative route will be signed via Woodland Road, Bondgate, St Augustine’s Way, St Cuthbert’s Way, Victoria Road, Grange Road, Carmel Road South and vice versa
The Order is necessary to allow road surfacing work.
The maximum duration of the temporary closure under this Order is 18 months commencing from 19th July 2025, it is anticipated that the closure will be effective for 2 weeks. Access for West Cemetery will be available from 21st July as advised by the signs on site.
