Luton - Various Temporary Road Closures
What is happening?
THE BOROUGH OF LUTON
(VARIOUS ROADS)
(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES) (No.16) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is hereby given that Luton Borough Council, the Highway Authority for the said Borough, on 27th May 2025 made the above Order under the relevant provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).
The Order will come into operation on 4th June 2025 for a period of 18 months or when the proposed works have been completed, whichever is the earlier. Specific dates and times will be signed locally. The Order will therefore be in operation during such date and time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs, barriers or cones.
The effect of the Order will allow the Council to close to vehicular traffic the following roads and lengths of roads:
Barton Road from its junction with Birdsfoot Lane to its junction with Barnfield Avenue. Diversion route via Icknield Way, Neville Road, Trinity Road, Austin Road, New Bedford Road. Anticipated date and times of closure 4th June 2025 to 5th June 2025, 10pm to 5am.
Union Street from its junction with Oxford Road to its junction with Latimer Road. Diversion route via Latimer Road, Park Viaduct, Castle Street Roundabout, Castle Street. Alternatively, via Castle Street, Holly Street, Latimer Road. Anticipated date and times of closure 9th June 2025 to 11th June 2025.
Dunstable Road from its junction with Leagrave Road to its junction with Hatters Way. Diversion route via Hatters Way, Chaul End Lane, Dunstable Road. Anticipated date and times of closure 16th June 2025 to 18th June 2025, 8pm to 6am.
Biscot Road from its junction with Kennington Road to its junction with Biscot Mill Roundabout. Diversion route via Ascot Road, Denbigh Road, Montrose Avenue. HGV Diversion via Waldeck Road, Bury Park Road, Moor Street, Dunstable Road, Telford Way, New Bedford Road, Montrose Avenue. Anticipated date and times of closure 3rd August 2025 to 5th August 2025, 9am to 5pm.
The Order is intended to create a window for the works to be done and it is anticipated that the works will be completed over a period as described above. The purpose of the Order is to enable Affinity Water to carry out essential maintenance works. Access will be maintained as best as possible to properties where this may be done safely whilst such works are being carried out and diversions for traffic where available will be marked by signs.
