What is happening?

The council of the borough of middlesbrough

(Temporary traffic regulation) order 2025

WHEREAS the Council of the Borough of Middlesbrough (‘The Council’) is satisfied that this Order should be made due to the likelihood of danger to the public and to facilitate the holding of a special event on the lengths of road specified in the Schedule to this Order.

NOW THEREFORE the Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1), (7) and 16A(1) of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 and of all other enabling powers hereby makes the following Order:

1. This Order shall come into operation on Friday 30th May 2025 and shall be cited as ‘The Council of the Borough of Middlesbrough (Ali Brownlee 5K Road Race) (Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order 2024’. The Order shall remain in force for 18 months or until the event is finished, whichever is the sooner. Notwithstanding the above, it is anticipated that the closures will be required for a maximum period of one day.

2. No person shall cause or permit any vehicle to proceed along those lengths of road specified in the First Schedule to this Order between 06:00 hours and 12:00 hours on Sunday 1st June 2025.

3. Nothing in this Order shall prevent access for pedestrians to: i. Premises situated on or adjacent to; or ii. Any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from, the roads referred to in the Schedules.

4. Nothing in this Order shall apply to vehicles used in connection with the Police, Fire or Ambulance services.
