Essex - Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures due to Works
What is happening?

(Bridleway 52, Harlow)
(Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).
Effect of the order: To temporarily close Bridleway 52, in the District of Harlow, from the junction with Tye Green Village, northwest to its junction with Footpath 50, for approximately 650 metres.
Diversion will be via: Footpath 50 (Partridge Road), Partridge Road, A1169 Southern Way, Tye Green Village and vice versa.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 27 May 2025 to 10 June 2025 where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting. The closure is required for the safety of the public, while Bridleway repairs are undertaken.
The Order will come into effect on 27 May 2025 may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Drapers Corner, Ongar)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Drapers Corner, Ongar in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 75m south of its junction with Greensted Road for a distance of approximately 35m in a southerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 23rd June 2025 for 4 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MX06062770/AP – Affinity Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while the connection works are undertaken by Affinity Water.
An alternative route is available via Drapers Corner, Mutton Row, Toot Hill Road, Greensted Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 29th May 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Dunmow Road, Fyfield)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Dunmow Road, Fyfield in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 40m south west of its junction with Norwood End for a distance of approximately 30m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 16th June 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30096402891 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new installation works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.
An alternative route is available via A414, A1184, B1383, A1060 and vice versa (with access only into B184).
The Order will come into effect on 29th May 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Epping Lane, Theydon Mount)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Epping Lane, Theydon Mount in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 645m north east of its junction with Hobbs Cross Road for a distance of approximately 135m in a south easterly direction.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 17th June 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MX05610267918 – Affinity Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while water exchange works are undertaken by Affinity Water.
An alternative route is available via Epping Lane, London Road, Passingford Bridge Roundabout, Ongar Road, and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 29th May 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Back Lane, Nazeing)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close the length of Back Lane, Nazeing in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 55m west of its junction with Betts Lane for a distance of approximately 45m in a westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 3rd June 2025 for 4 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MX04410255051 – Affinity Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while valve repair works are undertaken by Affinity Water.
An alternative route is available via Back Lane and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 15th May 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Stapleford Road, Stapleford Abbotts)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) &
(Gravel Lane, Chigwell)
(Temporary Suspension of 7.5 Tonne Weight Restriction) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
1. To temporarily close that length of Stapleford Road, Stapleford Abbotts in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 465m north west of its junction with Meadow Brook for a distance of approximately 335m in a north westerly direction.
2. To temporarily suspend the 7.5T weight restriction on that length of Gravel Lane, Chigwell in the District of Epping Forest from its junction with Abridge Road to its junction with Pudding Lane a distance of approximately 2800m as cited in the “Epping Forest District Council (Roding Valley Area) (Weight and Width Restriction) Order 1992” for the duration of the closure only.
The closure/suspension are scheduled to commence on 4th June 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP02231012900 – Stour Valley Traffic Management). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure/suspension are required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway resurfacing works are undertaken by Stour Valley Traffic Management.
An alternative route is available via Ongar Road, Market Place, London Road, Abridge Road, Abridge Road Roundabout, Gravel Lane, Romford Road, Hog Hill Road, Manor Road, Chase Cross Road and vice versa (with access only into Havering Road, Orange Tree Hill, North Road, Oak Hill Road, Stapleford Road).
The Order came into effect on 15th May 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Upland Road, Epping)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Upland Road, Epping in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 280m south west of its junction with High Road for a distance of approximately 175m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 2nd June 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MX06060466/AP – Affinity Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new water supply works are undertaken by Affinity Water.
An alternative route is available via Upland Road, High Road, Thornwood Road, Palmers Hill, Lindsey Street, Epping Road and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 15th May 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
