What is happening?
SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council intends to make Orders to close temporarily to all traffic:
A) Back Road, Calne; from its junction with London Road for its entire length to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out carriageway resurfacing, replacement of road markings and adjustment of ironworks and associated works. No alternative route is available. This Order will come into operation on 16 June 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:00 and 18:00 until 23 June 2025. B) C351 (Part), Rushall; from its junction with Croft Row for a distance of approximately 320m in a north easterly direction to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out construction of 2m wide footway on one side of road outside ‘Hazelnut Cottage’ and ‘The Wheelwright’ properties. Alternative route via C351 (unaffected length) – A345 – A342 – C351 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 16 June 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:00 and 16:00 until 26 June 2025. C) C119 (Part), Broad Hinton; from its junction with Pye Lane for a distance of approximately 1.4km in a north westerly direction to enable a contractor to carry out various works to drainage and road bends and other associated works. Alternative route via C119 (unaffected length) – C15 – C415 – Pye Lane – C119 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 20 June 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00 until 03 July 2025. D) C375 (Part), Sutton Benger; from a point approximately 40m south of its junction with Sharplands for a distance of approximately 123m in a southerly direction to enable Utility Distribution Networks Ltd to carry out cable installation and connection works and other associated works. Alternative route via C375 (unaffected length) – B4069 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 16 June 2025 and the closure will be required for 5 days. E) C45 (Part), Little Somerford; from its junction with Seagry Road for a distance of approximately 108m in a north westerly direction to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out masonry works and other associated works. Alternative route via C45 (unaffected length) – B4042 – A429 – C2 – C77 – C66 – C45 (unaffected length) and vice versa. F) Burdett Street, Ramsbury; from its junction with Back Lane to its junction with High Street to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out new foul connection and associated works. Alternative route via High Street – Back Lane and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 16 June 2025 and the closure will be required until 20 June 2025. G) Stubbs Lane (Part), Kingston St Michael; from its junction with Allington Lane for a distance of approximately 90m in a north easterly direction to enable Scottish and Southern Power Distribution to carry out electrical supply works and associated works. Alternative route via Stubbs Lane (unaffected length) – High Street – Allington Lane and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 16 June 2025 and the closure will be required until 18 June 2025. H) C134 (Part), Bremhill; from its property known as Hillview for a distance of approximately 160m in a south easterly direction to enable Wessex Water to carry out utility works and other associated works. Alternative route via C134 – C113 – C134 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 19 June 2025 and the closure will be required for 3 days. I) Flaxlands, Lydiard Tregoze; from its junction with B4696 to its junction with C414 to enable Thames Water to carry out works to exchange a boundary box in the verge and associated works. Alternative route via C414 – B4042 – B4696 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 20 June 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00 until 27 June 2025. J) Lowden Hill (Part), Chippenham; from a point approximately 45m east of its junction with Lowden Hill (unaffected length) for a distance of approximately 116m in an easterly direction to enable Openreach to carry out duct laying works and other associated works. Alternative route via Lowden Hill (unaffected length) – Rowden Hill – Lowden – Lowden Hill (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 16 June 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00 for 3 days. K) The Parade (Part), Marlborough; from its junction with New Road to its junction with Kennet Place to enable Wales & West Utilities to carry out gas main replacement and associated works. No alternative route is available. This Order will come into operation on 16 June 2025 and the closure will be required until 27 June 2025. L) C120 (Part), Tockenham; from its property known as Greenway Farm for a distance of approximately 149m in a south easterly direction to enable Thames Water to carry out mains and service pipe connections works and other associated works. Alternative route via C120 (unaffected length) – C131 – A3102 – C120 (unaffected length) and vice versa. Alternative route via C113 – C112 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 29 May 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00 for 1 day. O) Bytham Road (Part), Ogbourne St Andrew; from its junction with known as Lime Bungalow to its junction with known as Kilnwood House to enable Thames Water to carry out fire hydrant exchange. P) B4040 Gloucester Street (Part), Malmesbury; from its junction with Mill Lane for a distance of approximately 60m in a south easterly direction to enable Wessex Water to carry out urgent maintenance works and other associated works. Alternative route via B4040 (unaffected length) – A429 – B4014 – C68 – B4040 (unaffected length) and vice versa. Q) C67 (Part), Lea and Cleverton; from its property known as The Cottage to its property known as West End to enable Wessex Water to carry out sewer line repair and restoration works and other associated works. Alternative route via C67 (unaffected length) – C81 – B4040 – C67 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 27 May 2025 and the closure will be required for 3 days. S) School Road (Part), Seend; from its junction with A361 for a distance of approximately 70m in a north westerly direction to enable Openreach to carry out installation of ducting and associated works for new customer service. Alternative route via School Road (unaffected length) – C20 – A361 and vice versa. This Order which previously came into operation on 22 April 2025 will now recommence on 28 May 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 10:00 and 15:00 for 1 day. Orders A) to R) will have a maximum duration of 18 months, Order S has a maximum duration of 18 months. The closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.

Phase 1: A350 (Part), Chippenham and Chippenham Without; from its roundabout junction with A420 to its roundabout junction with B4528.
Phase 2: A350 (Part), Chippenham, Corsham and Lacock; from its roundabout junction with A4 to its roundabout junction with B4528 to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out machinery works and other associated works.
Alternative route phase 1 via A4 – A365 – A420 and vice versa.
Alternative route phase 2 via A350 (unaffected length) – A365 – A4 and vice versa.
The closure and diversion route will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. This Order will come into operation on 16 June 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00 for 7 nights. Phase 1 of the road traffic restrictions and business works will be completed before 20 June. Phase 2 will commence on 25 June 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 20:00 and 06:00 for 7 nights.
It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works. The Order will have a maximum duration of 18 months. c) Byway 10, Winterbourne Monkton; from its junction with Byway 1, Avebury to its junction with Byway 40, Fyfield.
d) Byway 40, Fyfield; from its junction with Byway 10, Winterbourne Monkton to its junction with Byway 12, Berwick Bassett.
e) Byway 12, Berwick Bassett; from its junction with Byway 40, Fyfield to its junction with Byway 10, Winterbourne Monkton.
f) Byway 10, Winterbourne Bassett; from its junction with Byway 12, Berwick Bassett to its junction with C18.
g) Byway 3, Avebury; from its junction with Byway 5, Avebury to its junction with Byway 1, Avebury.
h) Byway 5, Avebury; from its junction with Byway 1, Avebury (Ridgeway) to its junction with Byway 3, Avebury.
i) Byway 9, Winterbourne Bassett; from its junction with Byway 10, Winterbourne Bassett to its junction with Byway 14, Winterbourne Monkton.
j) Byway 14, Berwick Bassett; from its junction with the unclassified road to its junction with Byway 9, Winterbourne Bassett.
And to introduce a temporary No Waiting at Any Time restriction applying to both sides of the following lengths of road:
k) A4361 (Part), Avebury and Winterbourne Monkton – from its junction with A4 Beckhampton roundabout, Avebury to its junction with Mill Lane, Winterbourne Monkton.
l) Nash Road, Avebury (including spur); from its junction with A4361 to its junction with South Street.
m) South Street, Avebury; from its junction with Nash Road to its junction with Longfields.
n) Longfields, Avebury (including spur) – from its junction with Longfields spur junction with South Street.
o) Green Street, Avebury (including spurs) – from its junction with South Street for its entire length.
p) High Street, Avebury, (including Church Walk Spur) – from its junction with A4361 for its entire length.
q) Green Street, Avebury – from its junction with the A4361 for its entire length.
r) A4361 Layby, Winterbourne Monkton; from its junction with the A4361 to its junction with Mill Lane, Winterbourne Monkton.
s) A4361 Layby, Winterbourne Monkton; east side – from a point approximately 250m south of its junction with Mill Lane for its entire length.
t) A4 (Part), Avebury and West Overton; from its junction with A4 Beckhampton roundabout to The Bell Inn Public House, West Overton including the layby on the north east side of the A4 (east of junction with B4033).
u) Gunsite Lane, Avebury and East Kennett; from its junction with A4 for its entire length.
Parking permits for residents parking only will be issued by Wiltshire Council and must be clearly displayed during the period of the closures.
These Orders are made to ensure public safety during the period of the Avebury Summer Solstice.
Section (a) will come into operation at 06:00 on 20 June 2025 and will remain in force until 08:00 on 23 June 2025.
Sections (b)–(i) will come into operation on 16 June 2025 and will remain in force until 25 June 2025.
Sections (j)–(u) will come into operation at 06:00 on 19 June 2025 and will remain in force until 12 noon on 22 June 2025.
The Orders for sections (a) and (k)–(u) will have a maximum duration of 18 months.
The Orders for sections (b)–(j) will have a maximum duration of 06 months.

SECTION 16A OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council intends to make an Order to close temporarily to all vehicular traffic:
High Street (Part), Chippenham; from a point approximately 14m north of the traffic gate barrier to its junction with Market Place.
These temporary traffic measures are required to safeguard members of the public and competitors during the Chippenham “Longest Day 10K” Event to take place.
This Order will come into operation on Wednesday 18th June 2025 with the exception of vehicles officially involved in the marathon, vehicles being used for ambulance, fire or fire brigade purposes, or the purpose of a statutory undertaker in an emergency.
The restrictions being given by a Police Constable in uniform or a Community Safety (CSAS) accredited marshal.
The closure is anticipated to commence at 18:30 and finishes at 21:30.
