(Leigh Road, Atherton) (Temporary Closure) Order 2025
Notice of Making
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Leigh Road, Atherton) (Temporary Closure) Order 2025 which will come into operation on 14th June 2025.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven in Leigh Road, Atherton commencing on 14th June 2025 for approximately 2 weeks.
The alternative route for traffic is: Lovers Lane and Wigan Road.
The Order is necessary to allow a new gas connection.
(Westleigh Lane Back Service Road West 9 - 23, Leigh)
(Temporary Closure) Order 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of the Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Westleigh Lane Back Service Road West 9 - 23, Leigh) (Temporary Closure) Order 2025.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven in Westleigh Lane Back Service Road West 9 - 23, Leigh commencing on 2nd June 2025 for 1 week.
The alternative route for traffic is: Isherwood Street, Westleigh Lane, Aldred Street.
The Order is necessary to allow a New Electric Connection.
(Beech Avenue, Lowton) (Temporary Closure) Order 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of the Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Beech Avenue, Lowton) (Temporary Closure) Order 2025.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven in Beech Avenue, Lowton commencing on 18th June 2025 to 24th June 2025.
The alternative route for traffic is Kings Avenue.
The Order is necessary to allow Gas Mains Replacement.
(Higher Green Street, Tyldesley) (Temporary Closure) Order 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of the Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Higher Green Street, Tyldesley) (Temporary Closure) Order 2025.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven in Higher Green Street, Tyldesley commencing on 5th June 2025 to 6th June 2025.
The alternative route for traffic is via Railway Street, Manchester Road and North Lane.
The Order is necessary to allow replacing frame and cover.
Local Government Act 1972 Section 123 (2A)
Notice of Proposed Disposal of Open Space Land
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN under section 123 (2A) of the above named Act that Wigan Borough Council intends to dispose of an area of land consisting of open space for the purpose of the site of a new primary school.
Description of Land: An area of land (3,586.89 sq. metres) located at Edale Road, Leigh.
The land will be disposed of by being leased during normal business hours at the Town Hall, Library Street, Wigan WN1 1YN by contacting the Strategic Assets Team on 01942 827300 or by email: strategicassets@wigan.gov.uk. This lease is so far as the above land consists of or forms part of an open space within the meaning of the above Section.
Any objection to this intended disposal must be made in writing to the Assistant Director – Legal, Governance and Elections, Town Hall, Library Street, Wigan WN1 1YN quoting reference: RD/LS/SG/AT1068 no later than 13 June 2025 at 4pm.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Wigan Borough Council, in exercise of the powers under Section 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 and all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act 1984, proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Decriminalisation of Parking) (Leigh Roads) (Traffic Regulation Consolidation) Order 2004 (Amendment No. 155) Order 2025.

There will be limited exceptions permitting vehicles to wait to enable people to board or alight; for the purpose of building, industrial operations, removing obstructions to traffic; for the purposes of deliveries by universal postal service; local authority, Water Companies and Post Office purposes; vehicles used by health services; for police, fire or ambulance; (liveried vehicles) or in connection with works on the highway or with written agreement.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Wigan Borough Council, in exercise of its powers under Section 23(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers, has resolved to introduce a puffin pedestrian crossing on the following street:
Kirkhall Lane, Leigh, from a point 6 metres east of its junction with Glebe Street, for a distance of 4.5 metres.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (East Lancashire Road, Worsley) (Temporary Closure) Order 2025 which will come into operation on 4th August 2025.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven in East Lancashire Road, Worsley at its junction with Chaddock Lane, Left Turn Lane commencing on 4th August 2025 to 10th August 2025.
The alternative route for traffic is: Mosley Common Road, Rough Lane, Henfold Road, Church Lane and Higher Green Lane.
The Order is necessary to allow Electric Ducting.
Lingards Lane, Tyldesley (Temporary Closure) Order 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Lingards Lane, Tyldesley) (Temporary Closure) Order 2025 which will come into operation on 30th June 2025.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven in Lingards Lane, Tyldesley commencing on 30th June 2025 to 4th July 2025.
The alternative route for traffic is: Marklands Road and Green Avenue.
The Order is necessary to allow a New Electric Connection.
