EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

The East Sussex (B2192 Ringmer Road, Ringmer) (Temporary 30 mph Speed Limit) Order 2025

To allow UKPN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily restrict all traffic using the following length of road to a speed not exceeding 30 mph:

Temporary 30 mph Speed Limit

Ringmer Road – from the junction with C113 New Road to UKPN Lewes Grid Sub Station.

The Order commenced 10 March 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier. However, it is anticipated the speed restriction will be in place between 29 May and 10 July 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U5135 Mill Road, Lewes) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Mill Road – from the junction with A26 Malling Hill to the junction with U5135 The Lynchets.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible. The Order commences 26 May 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. The East Sussex (U5004 Allington Road, Newick) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Allington Road – from the junction with A272 Western Road to the junction with U5667 West Point.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A272 Western Road, High Street, The Green – C8 The Green, Church Road – U5004 Allington Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 27 May 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 27 and 29 May 2025 depending upon the weather conditions. To allow Southern Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Lansdown Place – from the junction with B2193 Station Road to the junction with U5157 St Nicholas Lane.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A277 High Street, Western Road – C7 Winterbourne Hollow, Bell Lane – B2193 Southover High Street, Priory Street, Station Road. The Order commences 27 May 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. To allow Southern Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Gibbon Road – from the junction with U5803 Hanson Road to the junction with U5286 Western Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U5286 Western Road – U5299 Bay Vue Road – U5300 Hillside – C29 South Road, Fort Road – U5297 Gibbon Road and vice versa. The Order commences 27 May 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. The East Sussex (A22 Golden Jubilee Way, Westham & A22 Hailsham Bypass/Polegate Bypass, Hailsham) (Temporary 40 mph Speed Limit) Order 2025

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily restrict all traffic using the following lengths of road to a speed not exceeding 40 mph:

Temporary 40 mph Speed Limit

Golden Jubilee Way – from the junction with A27 Dittons Road roundabout to the junction with B2191 Willingdon Drove. Hailsham Bypass/Polegate Bypass – from the junction with A22 Boship roundabout to the junction with U7712 Summerhill.

The Order commences 27 May 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier. However, it is anticipated the speed restriction will be in place from 20:00hrs to 06:00hrs between 27 May and 3 October 2025.

To allow BT Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Rookery Lane – from the junction with C16 Back Lane to the junction with B2096 Earls Down.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via B2096 Earls Down, Carricks Hill, Battle Road, Woods Corner – C18 South Lane – C277 Bluekiln Road, Redpale, North Road – C16 White Horse Road, Bodle Street Road, Back Lane and vice versa.

The Order commences 30 May 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 30 May 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily bring into force the following restrictions:-

Temporary Road Closures

Old Ghyll Road – for its entire length.

Restriction is anticipated to be in place on 10 and 11 June 2025.

Hoadleys Lane/School Lane – from the junction with C11 London Road to the junction with U7474 St Johns Road.

Diversion via C11 London Road – U7475 Ghyll Road – U7474 St. Johns Road and vice versa.

Restriction is anticipated to be in place on 28 and 29 July 2025.

Chelwood Gate Road – from the junction with A22 High Street to the junction with C3 Beaconsfield Road.

Diversion via C3 Beaconsfield Road – A275 Lewes Road, London Road, Lewes Road, Sheffield Green, Sheffield Park, East Grinstead Road – A272 Station Road, Western Road, High Street, Goldbridge Road, Batts Bridge Road – A22 Maresfield bypass, Horney Common Road, Courtlands Road, Fords Green Road, High Street and vice versa.

Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 28 July and 1 August 2025.

High Street/Millbrook Hill – from the junction with A22 Wych Cross to the junction with A22 Fords Green Road.

Diversion via A22 Fords Green Road, Courtlands Road, Horney Common Road, Maresfield bypass – A272 Batts Bridge Road, Goldbridge Road, High Street, Western Road, Station Road – A275 East Grinstead Road, Sheffield Park, Sheffield Green, Lewes Road, London Road, Lewes Road – A22 Wych Cross and vice versa.

Restriction is anticipated to be in place from 20:00hrs to 06:00hrs between 28 July and 2 August 2025

Palehouse Common – from the junction with C26 Eastbourne Road to the junction with B2192 Lewes Road.

Diversion via C26 Eastbourne Road – A22 Eastbourne Road – B2192 Heathfield Road, Lewes Road and vice versa.

Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 7 and 11 July 2025.

Sheriffs Lane – from the junction with C407 Yew Tree Lane to the junction with B2101 High Cross.

Diversion via B2101 High Cross, Mayfield Road – B2101 South Street – B2100 Station Road, Catts Hill – C407 Yew Tree Lane and vice versa.

Restriction is anticipated to be in place on 28 and 29 July 2025.

Nether Lane/Down Street – from the junction with A272 Batts Bridge Road to the junction with A22 High Street.

Diversion via A22 High Street, Fords Green Road, Courtlands Road, Horney Common Road, Maresfield bypass – A272 Batts Bridge Road and vice versa.

Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 9 and 12 June 2025.

Park Road – from the junction with U7592 Sandy Cross Lane to the junction with U7917 Upper Station Road.

Diversion via U7917 Upper Station Road – B2203 Hailsham Road – U7592 Sandy Cross Lane and vice versa.

Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 27 and 30 October 2025.

Hawkhurst Road – from the junction with A21 to the county border.

Diversion via A268 (KCC) – A229 Highgate Hill (KCC) – Moor Hill (KCC) – Horns Road (KCC) – A229 Horns Hill, Coopers Corner – A21 (T) and vice versa.

Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 23 and 25 July 2025.

Western Road – from the junction with C11 Hadlow Down Road to the junction with B2100 Rotherfield Road.

Diversion via C11 Walshes Road, Fermor Road, Whitehill Road, Croft Road – B2100 The Broadway – Crowborough Hill and vice versa.

HGV Diversion via C11 Walshes Road, Fermor Road – C254 Hurtis Hill, Sheep Plain – A26 Beacon Road, Eridge Road – C70 Bunny Lane – A267 Frant Road, Frant Green Road, Mayfield Road, Tunbridge Wells Road, Mayfield Road, Tunbridge Wells Road, Argos Hill – B2101 Bicycle Arms Road, High Cross, Mayfield Road, South Street – B2100 High Street, Church Road, Rotherfield Road and vice versa.

Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 23 and 26 June 2025.

Blacklands Crescent – for its entire length.

Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 30 June and 2 July 2025.

Wadhurst Road/Best Beech Hill/Mayfield Lane – from the junction with B2099 Station Road to the junction with A267 Tunbridge Wells Road.

Diversion via A267 Tunbridge Wells Road, Mayfield Road – B2099 Wadhurst Road, Riverhall Hill, Frant Road, Station Hill, Station Road and vice versa.

Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 19 and 21 August 2025.

Lower High Street – from the junction with U7890 Blacksmiths Lane to the junction with U7548 Brinkers Lane.

Diversion via B2099 High Street – B2100 Sparrows Green Road, Cousley Wood Road, The Slade – B2169 (KCC) – A21 (T) – B2087 High Street, Union Street, Broom Hill, Berners Hill, Dale Hill, Lower Platts – B2099 High Street, Shovers Green, Ticehurst Road, Moseham Hill and vice versa.

Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 28 July and 1 August 2025.

Horns Hill – from the junction with C90 Merriments Lane to the county border.

Diversion via A229 (KCC) – A268 (KCC) – A268 Hawkhurst Road – A21 (T) and vice versa. Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 28 and 31 July 2025.

Temporary 40 mph Speed Limit

Lewes Road – from 240 metres north of the Wych Cross junction to outside Wych Warren.

Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 7 and 18 July 2025.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible.

The Order commences 9 June 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier.
