Durham, Temporary Bridleway & Footpath Closure Due To Infrastructure Works

What is happening?

The County Council of Durham

(Public Rights of Way Bridleway No.15 Belmont Parish and Cambridgeshire Drive, Belmont) (Temporary Bridleway and Footpath Closure) Order 2025

The Council on 14/5/25 made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all pedestrian, equestrian and cycle traffic from proceeding on the following lengths of Bridleway and footpath:

Bridleway No.15 Belmont Parish (closed to pedestrian, equestrian and cycle traffic) a 200-metre length from the footpath leading from Cambridgeshire Drive extending westwards for approximately 200 metres

Footpath Cambridgeshire Drive (closed to pedestrian traffic) a 10-metre length to the side of numbers 6 and 7 Cambridgeshire Drive leading onto Bridleway 15, Belmont.

An alternative route is available to pedestrian traffic from the east side of the closure in an easterly direction to the footpath leading to Warwickshire Drive then east on Warwickshire Drive then west and north on Devonshire Road then north on Buckinghamshire Drive then west on C13 Broomside Lane then northwest on Sunderland Road then South on McIntyre Way to western end of closure and vice versa.

The maximum duration of the Order is 6 months. The works are expected to commence on 27/5/25 and anticipated to be completed in 5 weeks. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
