York - Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures due to Works
What is happening?
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that the City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Sections 14(1) & 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an order on Thursday, 15 May 2025 in respect of the location numbered (1) and also made an order on Thursday, 22 May 2025 in respect of the locations numbered (2), (3), (4), (5), (6), (7), (8), (9), (10) & (11). Furthermore, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of the locations numbered, (12), (13), (14), (15), (16) & (17).
(1) FISHERGATE (CONTINUATION), YORK
This Order continues in force the York (Fishergate) (Temporary Traffic Restriction) Order 2025 (original Order). The effect of which is to continue the prohibition on vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of carriageway on Fishergate, York between its junction with Blue Bridge Lane and a location 65 metres north of said junction (closed carriageway) during the period commencing at 2301 hours on Monday, 19 May 2025 and ending at 2300hrs on Thursday, 22 May 2025 (works period) or on a date when footway maintenance works being undertaken thereon have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Cemetery Road, Barbican Road, Paragon Street, Fawcett Street.
(2) QUEEN STREET, YORK
This Order prohibits vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Queen Street, York between its junctions with Station Road and a location 65 metres north-west of its junction with Blossom Street (closed road) during the period when station gateway works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 1930hrs on Saturday, 24 May 2025 and ending at 0500hrs on Tuesday, 27 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Rougier Inner Ring Road. Alternative footways will also be put in place.
(3) ALNESS DRIVE, YORK
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of carriageway on Alness Drive, York between its junctions with Nevis Way and Girvan Close (closed road) during the period when drainage maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0930hrs on Tuesday, 27 May 2025 and ending at 1600hrs on Tuesday, 27 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Moor Lane, Askham Lane, Foxwood Lane, Bellhouse Way, Acomb Wood Drive.
(4) FOOTPATH BRIDGE LANE FROM WIGGINTON ROAD TO FOOT BRIDGE, YORK
This Order prohibits vehicles & pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Footpath Bridge Lane from Wigginton Road to Foot Bridge, York between its junctions with Scarborough Terrace and Wigginton Road (closed footpath) during the period when footway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 1830hrs on Tuesday, 27 May 2025 and ending at 2359hrs on Wednesday, 28 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the footpath will only be closed between 1830hrs and 2359hrs each night of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles and pedestrians will be signed during the works period via Clarence Street, Gillygate, Bootham, Grosvenor Terrace.
(5) WHITESTONE DRIVE, DORIAM DRIVE & KESTREL WOOD WAY, YORK
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of road on Whitestone Drive, Doriam Drive & Kestrel Wood Way, York (i) on Whitestone Drive between its junctions with Huntington Road and Doriam Drive and (ii) on Doriam Drive between its junction with Whitestone Drive and a location 230 metres east of said junction and (iii) on Kestrel Wood Way between its junctions with Doriam Drive and Brockfield Park Drive (closed roads) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Tuesday, 27 May 2025 and ending at 1700hrs on Friday, 30 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the roads will only be closed between 0800hrs and 1700hrs each day during the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Huntington Road, Brockfield Drive, Brockfield Park Drive, New Lane, Priory Wood Way.
(6) ST. THOMAS CLOSE, YORK
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on St. Thomas Close, York between its junction with Thirkleby Way and a location 53 metres south-west of said junction (closed road) during the period when power grid works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Tuesday, 27 May 2025 and ending at 1730hrs on Monday, 09 June 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0800hrs and 1730hrs each day of the works period. Access for residents and businesses will be maintained.
(7) HAXBY MOOR ROAD, STRENSALL, YORK
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of Haxby Moor Road, Strensall between locations 70 metres and 100 metres north-west of the junction with Leyfield Close (closed road) during the period when sewer works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0900hrs on Wednesday, 28 May 2025 and ending at 1600hrs on Thursday, 29 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0900hrs and 1600hrs each day during the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via West End, York Road, Strensall Road, Towthorpe Road, Station Road, Usher Lane.
(8) MOOR LANE & NABURN LANE, NABURN
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of road on Moor Lane & Naburn Lane, Naburn (i) on Moor Lane between its junctions with B1222 - York Road and Naburn Lane and (ii) on Naburn Lane between its junctions with Moor Lane and A19 – York Road (closed roads) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0830hrs on Wednesday, 28 May 2025 and ending at 1600hrs on Thursday, 29 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the roads will only be closed between 0830hrs and 1600hrs each day of the works period. Access for residents and businesses will be maintained throughout the works. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via A19, B1222.
(9) BAD BARGAIN LANE, YORK
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Bad Bargain Lane, York between its junctions with Bramley Garth and the entrance drive to The Cottage property (closed road) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Wednesday, 28 May 2025 and ending at 1800hrs on Friday, 30 May 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0800hrs and 1800hrs each day of the works period.
(10) WATER END & BOROUGHBRIDGE ROAD, YORK
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of road on Water End & Boroughbridge Road, York (i) on Water End between its junction with Boroughbridge Road and a location 388 metres north-east of said junction and (ii) on Boroughbridge Road between its junction with Lavender Grove and the projected south-eastern boundary of property no. 7 (closed roads) during the period when abnormal load works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0500hrs on Wednesday, 28 May 2025 and ending at 0600hrs on Friday, 22 August 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed for a maximum of 15 minutes each night of the works period between 0500hrs and 0600hrs. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period.
(11) PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY 15/17/20 (CONTINUATION), KEXBY
This Order prohibits pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of Public Right of Way No. 15/17/20, Kexby (closed public right of way) due to an unsafe footbridge thereon, commencing at 0001hrs on Thursday, 29 May 2025 and ending at 2359hrs on Sunday, 02 November 2025 (danger period) or at a time when the bridge has been made safe, whichever is earlier. This is to ensure public safety. This Order continues the temporary road closure imposed by the Order and date of 2359hrs on Wednesday, 28 May 2025.
(12) FISHERGATE, YORK
This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of carriageway on Fishergate, York between its junction with Paragon Street and a location 50 metres south of said junction (closed carriageway) during the period when traffic signal works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0900hrs on Monday, 02 June 2025 and ending at 1530hrs on Tuesday, 03 June 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Tower Street. Additionally, all on-street parking on the eastern side of Fishergate between the projected southern boundary of the property names Festival Flats and the junction with Paragon Street will be suspended for the works period (restricted road).
(13) NELSONS LANE & HOB MOOR TERRACE, YORK
This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of road on Nelsons Lane & Hob Moor Terrace, York (i) on Nelsons Lane between its junctions with Tudor Road and Goodrick Grove and (ii) on Hob Moor Terrace between its junctions with Nelsons Lane and the projected northern boundary of property no. 45 (closed roads) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 02 June 2025 and ending at 1700hrs on Monday, 09 June 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the roads will only be closed between 0800hrs and 1700hrs each day of the works period. Access for residents and emergency services will be maintained at all times during the works period.
(14) WHITE HOUSE DRIVE & WHITE HOUSE RISE, YORK
This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in those lengths of road on White House Drive & White House Rise, York (i) on White House Drive between its junction with Pulleyne Drive and a location 124 metres northeast of said junction and (ii) on White House Rise between its junction with Pulleyne Drive and a location 140 metres north-east of said junction (closed roads) during the period when water works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 02 June 2025 and ending at 1800hrs on Monday, 30 June 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Access for residents and emergency services will be maintained throughout the works period.
(15) DALES LANE, YORK
This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Dales Lane, York between its junctions with Heworth Road and Forest Way (closed road) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0830hrs on Tuesday, 03 June 2025 and ending at 1600hrs on Wednesday, 04 June 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0830hrs and 1600hrs each day of the works period. Specific access arrangements can be made directly with the onsite team. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Hempland Avenue, Hempland Lane, Heworth Village.
(16) BRINKWORTH TERRACE, YORK
This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Brinkworth Terrace, York between its junction with James Street and a location 48 metres west of said junction (closed road) during the period when highway development works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0900hrs on Tuesday, 03 June 2025 and ending at 1500hrs on Friday, 06 June 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0900hrs and 1500hrs each day of the works period.
(17) POTTERY LANE & CARR LANE, STRENSALL
This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Pottery Lane & Carr Lane, Strensall (i) on Pottery Lane between its junctions with Sheriff Hutton Road and Carr Lane and (ii) on Carr Lane between its junction with Pottery Lane and the projected northern boundary of the property named Hundred Acre Farm (closed roads) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2000hrs on Thursday, 05 June 2025 and ending at 0600hrs on Friday, 06 June 2025 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Sheriff Hutton Road, Moxby Lane, Green Lane, Carr Lane. Access will be maintained for residents and emergency services.
The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by on-going works or safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions.
