What is happening?

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Northumberland County Council have made an Order to prohibit the use by vehicular traffic and pedestrian traffic on the following sections of roads and footways in Blyth in the County of Northumberland:-
Road Closures:
B1329 Inner Relief Road Blyth from its junction with Quay Road heading in a north westerly direction for a length of 290 metres.
B1329 Bridge Street from its junction with Wellington Street East heading in a north westerly direction for a length of 230 metres.
An alternative route will be available for vehicular traffic whilst the TTRO is in force being B1329, A193 and vice-versa and should the need arise changes may be made to the alternative routes, where possible these changes will be signposted accordingly.
Footway Closures:
B1329 Inner Relief Road from outside the front of number 63 Inner Relief Road heading in a north westerly direction for a length of 72 metres.
When the footway is closed a walkway will be provided for pedestrian traffic.
B1329 Bridge Street from outside the front of number 69 Bridge Street on both sides of the carriageway heading in a north westerly direction for a length of 50 metres.
There will only be one footway closed at a time so the other footway on the opposite side of the works will be open for pedestrian traffic at all times.
The Order is to be effective from the 31st May 2025 until the 31st May 2026.
It is expected that the roads and footways will only be closed from the 31st May 2025 until the 18th June 2025 between the hours of 20:00 until 06:00 during this period; however, the order will remain in place until 31st May 2026.

The closure has been requested by Northumberland County Council to carry out the removal of the roundabout and refuge Islands including footway and carriageway upgrading and resurfacing works.
In order to minimise future disruption, other contractors may be undertaking works throughout the duration of this Order.
