What is happening?
KIRKLEES COUNCIL
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 23
NOTICE OF PROPOSED INSTALLATION OF A ZEBRA CROSSING
NORTHUMBERLAND STREET, HUDDERSFIELD
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Kirklees Council propose to introduce under Section 23 of the Road Traffic Act 1984, as amended, the following feature at the following location:
Zebra Crossing
Northumberland Street, Huddersfield:
A proposed new zebra crossing on Northumberland Street, Huddersfield. The centre line of the crossing is 21 metres northeast of the south-western kerb line of Wood Street at the junction with Northumberland Street with associated zig zag markings extending 21m to the south-west and 19.5m to the north-east of the centre of the crossing.
REASON: This scheme is as part of the Huddersfield TCF regeneration of the town centre to improve pedestrian and cycle infrastructure going into the town centre and rail station. We’re doing this by widening the footways along Northumberland Street and narrowing the carriageway.
The proposed crossing will provide a safe facility for crossing Northumberland Street for pedestrians to safely cross improving road safety.
