What is happening?

EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

The East Sussex (A259 Trinity Trees/Seaside Road,
Eastbourne) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1) (b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Trinity Trees/Seaside Road – from the junction with U2138 Trinity Place to the junction with U2145 Elms Avenue.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A259 Trinity Trees, South Street, Gildredge Road, Ashford Road, Susans Road.

The Order commenced 3 February 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 30 May and 30 August 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U2103 Rodmill Drive, Eastbourne)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025 To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1) (b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Rodmill Drive – from the junction with A2270 Willingdon Road to the junction with A2021 Kings Drive.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A2021 Kings Drive – A2270 Crossways roundabout, Willingdon Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 27 May 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 27 and 30 May 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U2070 Colwood Crescent, Eastbourne)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1) (b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will continue the closure on the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Colwood Crescent – from the junction with U2070 Royal Sussex Crescent to the junction with U2070 Downs Avenue.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U2070 Downs Avenue, Royal Sussex Crescent, Colwood Crescent and vice versa.

The Order commences 26 May 2025 and is made following the issuing of a Temporary Notice dated 14 April 2025 and a Temporary Successive Notice dated 5 May 2025 under the relevant sections of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier, however it is anticipated the works will be undertaken between 26 May and 26 June 2025 depending upon weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U2003 Meads Brow, Eastbourne)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Meads Brow – for its full extent.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible.

The Order commences 9 June 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 9 June and 30 September 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Boston Close – for its full extent.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible.

The Order commences 9 June 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 9 June and 30 September 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow Eastbourne Borough Council to facilitate Eastbourne Tennis Tournament, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
College Road – from the junction with U2056 Blackwater Road to the junction with U2046 Carlisle Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U2056 Blackwater Road – U2064 Chiswick Place – U2060 Hardwick Road – U2053 Compton Street – U2051 Wilmington Gardens – U2046 Carlisle Road – U2045 Grange Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 1 June 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated the closure will be in place between 1 June and 4 July 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U2060 Hardwick Road, Eastbourne)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow Eastbourne Borough Council to facilitate Eastbourne Tennis Tournament, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Hardwick Road – from the junction with U2056 Blackwater Road to the junction with U2053 Compton Street.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U2056 Blackwater Road – U2064 Chiswick Place – U2060 Hardwick Road – U2053 Compton Street – U2051 Wilmington Gardens – U2046 Carlisle Road – U2045 Grange Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 1 June 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated the closure will be in place between 1 June and 4 July 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Warren Hill Road – from the junction with A259 East Dean Road to the junction with B2103 Beachy Head Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C89 Beachy Head Road – C37 Beachy Head Road, Birling Gap Road, Gilberts Drive – A259 Eastbourne Road, East Dean Road and vice versa. The Order commences 9 June 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 9 June and 30 September 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U2155 Firle Road, Eastbourne)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Firle Road – from the junction with U2156 Cavendish Avenue to the junction with A259 Seaside.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U2155 Firle Road – U2156 Cavendish Avenue – U2148 Bourne Street – A259 Seaside Road, Seaside and vice versa.

The Order commences 9 June 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 9 June and 30 September 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U2220 Kingfisher Drive, Eastbourne)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Kingfisher Drive – from the junction with B2191 Willingdon Drove to the junction with U2212 Sevenoaks Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via B2191 Willingdon Drove – U2212 Sevenoaks Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 9 June 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 9 June and 30 September 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following lengths of road;

Temporary Road Closures
Enys Road – from its junction with St Annes Road to its junction with Selwyn Road.

Diversion via U2126 Enys Road – U2112 Selwyn Road – U2124 Arundel Road – U2108 St Annes Road and vice versa.

Enys Road – from its junction with Lewes Road to its junction with Carew Road.

Diversion via U2126 Enys Road – U2120 Carew Road – U2120 Bedfordwell Road – A2021 Lewes Road and vice versa.

Enys Road – from its junction with Carew Road to its junction with St Annes Road.

Diversion via U2126 Enys Road – U2108 St Annes Road – U2120 Hartfield Road – U2120 Carew Road and vice versa. A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible.

The Order commences 9 June 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 9 June and 30 September 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that East Sussex County Council proposes to make the above Traffic Regulation Orders under the relevant sections of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, and of all other enabling powers which will introduce:

Bus Lane in the following lengths of road in Eastbourne:

Station Parade (north-eastern side) – Terminus Road (northern side).

Left Turn Only in the following road in Eastbourne:

Wharf Road – left turn only into Station Parade.

No Loading At Any Time in the following roads in Eastbourne:

Grove Road (north-western side, south-eastern side) – Southfields Road (northern side, southern side) – Station Parade (north-eastern side) – Station Roundabout (all sides) – Terminus Road (northern side, southern side) – The Avenue (both sides) – Upperton Road (north-eastern road) – Wharf Road (both sides).

No Right Turn in the following roads in Eastbourne:

Hartfield Road – no right turn into Upperton Road;

The Enterprise Shopping Centre car park – no right turn into Upperton Road;

Upperton Road – no right turn into The Enterprise Shopping Centre car park.

NOTICE IS ALSO HEREBY GIVEN that the Council proposes, in exercise of its powers under Section 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to introduce or alter pedestrian crossings in the following locations in Eastbourne:

Seaside – outside Nos. 342 and 347 Seaside, with the associated zig-zag markings extending for a total distance of 30.8 metres on the north-west side and 45.5 metres on the south-east side.

Outside St Andrew’s Church, with the associated zig-zag markings extending for a total distance of 22.7 metres on the north-west side and 52.5 metres on the south-east side.

Approximately 40 metres south-west of Seaside Roundabout (at the side of Wren Kitchens), with the associated zig-zag markings extending for a total distance of 30.8 metres on the north-west side and 45.5 metres on the south-east side.

Outside No. 511 Seaside, with the associated zig-zag markings extending for a total distance of 19.2 metres on the north-west side and 32.0 metres on the south-east side.

Outside Queen Alexandra’s Cottage Homes and No. 1 Winston Crescent, with the associated zig-zag markings extending for a total distance of 30.9 metres on the north-west side and 43.7 metres on the south-east side.
