ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984: SECTION 14(1)
TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2025
BATTISON STREET, BEDFORD 25 – 029
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council has made an
Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding
along the length of Battison Street, Bedford.
This temporary road closure is required to facilitate full reconstruction of the carriageway between 15 - 27 and then carriageway surfacing the whole street and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.
This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours from 2nd June 2025 to 4th June 2025 08:00-18:00 hours 5th June 2025 to 10th June 2025
The proposed Order will come into operation on 2nd June 2025, for a period of 12 months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier. For further information please contact Bedford Borough Council Tel: 01234 71800.
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984: SECTION 14(1)
TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2025
BROADMEAD ROAD, STEWARTBY 25 – 012
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Broadmead Road, Stewartby railway bridge.
This temporary road closure is required to facilitate annual bridge inspection and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.
This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 23:00 to 04:00 hours from 7th June 2025 to 9th June 2025
The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Woburn Road, Green Lane, Stewartby Way, Broadmead Road.
The reverse route applies.
The proposed Order will come into operation on 7th June 2025, for a period of 12 months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier. TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2025
HORNE LANE, BEDFORD 25 – 021
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along Horne Lane, Bedford from St Pauls Square to Harpur Centre car park.
This temporary road closure is required to re align kerbs and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.
This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 21:00 to 05:00 hours from 23rd June 2025 to 28th June 2025
The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Midland Road, Prebend Street, Cauldwell Street, Kingsway, St Marys Street, High Street, The Embankment, St Pauls Square The reverse route applies The proposed Order will come into operation on 23rd June 2025, for a period of 12 months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2025
ARMED FORCES DAY PARADE, BEDFORD
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along those lengths as detailed.
De Parys Avenue, Horne Lane, The Broad Way, St Marys, St Pauls Square North St Peters St West, Mill Street, Caudwell Street, The Embankment Bedford at their junctions with the parade route.
These temporary road closures are required to facilitate the 2025 Armed Forces Day Parade and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.
These temporary road closures are expected to be in operation between 07:00 to 18:00 hours 29th June 2025 Parade from 09:30 to 11:00

SHAKERS WAY, STAPLOE 25 – 013
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle,pedestrian and equestrian, from proceeding along Shakers Way, Staploe.
This temporary road closure is required to facilitate water mains replacement and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.
This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours from 16th June 2025 to 20th June 2025
The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Bushmead Road, Gypsy Lane, Staploe Lane, Shakers Way.
The reverse route applies.

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL PROPOSE TO INTRODUCE
NEW PARKING RESTRICTIONS IN HIGH STREET, CLAPHAM
Reason for Proposal:
Bedford Borough Council intends to address parking issues in the vicinity of the garage in High Street, and rectify anomalies with the existing restrictions.
Effect of the Order:
1. To extend existing ‘No waiting at any time’ restrictions (double yellow lines) on the following length of road: A High Street, Clapham
(i) On its south-western kerb, extending from the projected northwestern boundary of no. 85 (the end of the existing no waiting at any time restriction) for a distance of approx. 73 metres in a north-westerly direction.
Relevant proposal documents may be examined during normal office hours at Borough Hall, Cauldwell Street, Bedford, MK42 9AP. They will also be available for viewing on the council’s website at www.bedford.gov.uk/proposedtro . The documents will be placed on deposit until 6 weeks after the Order is made or until it is decided not to continue with the proposal. BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL PROPOSE TO INTRODUCE
PARKING RESTRICTIONS ON HIGH STREET, GREAT BARFORD
Reason for Proposals:
Following a request from Great Barford Parish Council, Bedford Borough Council propose to introduce new parking restrictions in High Street, Great Barford, to discourage indiscriminate parking and make a safer environment for all highway users.
Effect of the Order:
1. To introduce a double yellow line restriction (No waiting at any time) on the following length of road: A High Street, Great Barford
(i) On its north-eastern kerb, extending in a southerly direction from a point approx. 15 metres north of the centre of Churchgate to a point approx. 100 metres south of the centre of Churchgate.

Notice of Confirmation of Public Path Order Highways Act 1980

(KNOTTING & SOULDROP: PART OF PUBLIC FOOTPATH No. 32)
PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION ORDER 2024
On 05 December 2024 Bedford Borough Council Confirmed the above Order as an unopposed Order under Section 119 of the Highways Act 1980.
The effect of the Order as confirmed is to divert:-
That part of Public Footpath numbered 32 in the Parish of Knotting & Souldrop in the environs of “Old Church Farm”, High Street, Souldrop commencing from a point where it has a junction with the unaffected part of Footpath 32 Knotting & Souldrop approximately 35 metres south-east from the residential dwelling known as “Old Church Farm” High Street, Souldrop at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OSGR) SP 9852/6159 then running in a generally north-west direction for approximately 109 metres to a point where it connects with the unaffected part of Footpath 32 Knotting & Souldrop at OSGR SP 9846/6167 to a route commencing from a point where it has a junction with that part of the unaffected Footpath 32, Knotting & Souldrop approximately 35 metres south-east from the residential dwelling known as “Old Church Farm” High Street, Souldrop at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference
(OSGR) SP 9852/6159 then running in a generally north north east direction for approximately 16 metres and then running in a north-west direction for approximately 99 metres to a point where it connects with the unaffected part of Footpath 32 Knotting & Souldrop at OSGR SP 9846/6167.

The Order comes into force on 12 December 2024, but if any person aggrieved by the Order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, within six weeks from 22 May 2025 make an application to the High Court.
