What is happening?

Notice is given that the Council of the City of Peterborough has made an Order pursuant to section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984:
The City of Peterborough Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic Order 2025 –
Williamson Avenue, West Town, Peterborough Ref: 26-029P
The effect of which is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along the road known as Williamson Avenue, West Town, as lies between Aldermans Drive and Midland Road. The Council is satisfied that traffic should be prohibited due to proposed works being executed on the above road. The alternative route for vehicles affected by this order is via: Midland Road, Mayors Walk, Aldermans Drive and vice versa. The proposed order will come into force on the 28/05/2025 and will continue until the water mains works have been completed or until the 27/05/2026, whichever is the earlier. Closure dates will be confirmed locally on site.
It is anticipated that the works will take place between the 28/05/2025 and the 30/05/2025. For further information please contact

The alternative routes for vehicles affected by this order are detailed in the above schedule. The proposed order will come into force on the 27/05/2025 and will continue until the S278 Surfacing works have been completed or until the 26/05/2026, whichever is the earlier. Closure dates will be confirmed locally on site. It is anticipated that the works will take place from the 27/05/2025 to the 30/05/2025.
