Sandwell Area: Station Road and Thompson Road, Oldbury, High Street, Smethwick - Temporary Road Closures
What is happening?

(Temporary Road Closures) and (Station Road, Oldbury)
(Temporary Footway Closures) Order 2025 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Station Road from the junction of Western Road (eastern side) to the entrance for Alcohols Limited (western side), and Thompson Road at the junction of Station Road. Access to any affected frontages within both road closures will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Station Road (closure) – traffic will be diverted via Crosswells Road, Vicarage Road, Tat Bank Road, Western Road and vice versa.
Thompson Road (closure) – traffic will be diverted via Highbury Road and Bloxcidge Street to join the Station Road diversion route. The order intends to temporarily prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along both footways in Station Road from the junction of Western Road (eastern side) to the entrance to Alcohols Limited (western side) for the duration of the above works. A pedestrian diversion route will be signed via Thompson Road, New Henry Street, Langley Green Road, Mill Lane and vice versa. The maximum duration for the closure is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 28/05/2025 effective from 27/05/2025 (11pm - 6am). The Borough Council of Sandwell (High Street, Smethwick) (Temporary One-Way Road Closure) Order 2025 has made an order to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along High Street, which will be closed in a southerly direction between the junctions of Crocketts Lane and Brailsford Drive (southern side). Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. Traffic will be diverted via Crocketts Lane (north easterly direction), Soho Way, Grove Lane, Cape Hill, High Street & Bearwood Road. A further traffic diversion route will be signed via Crocketts Lane (south-westerly direction), High Street, Tollhouse Way (westerly direction) to the roundabout at the junction with Fenton Street, Tollhouse Way (easterly direction), Soho Way, Grove Lane, Cape Hill, High Street & Bearwood Road. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 29/05/2025 effective from 27/05/2025 (24hr). Purpose – to facilitate access for water service repairs by South Staffs Water.
